Slow cooker temperature

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by figarofigaro, Dec 26, 2012.

  1. Been a while since I logged in! Hope everyone had a great holiday.

I got me a slow cooker for christmas, and I'd like to whip up some edibles... but the temperature of the water is only reaching 190f so far... which is definitely not high enough.

Any tips on what I should do?

I'll be using coconut oil as my medium eventually.

    cheers :hello:

This is juat how I do it. Others may have other ways.

The newer crockpots are hotter. Mine is oval and will fit 3 quart canning jars with 2 peice jar lids. Then there is no smell. I put hot water from tap in crockpot then add a lb. of butter in each jar and 1 oz. of ground up trim in each jar and cook on high for 8 hours. Then I strain them with a sheer curtain and squeeze really well.
Then I use a 1/4 cup measure of butter into silicone cupcake pans , refriderate. When nice and hard pop two in a zip lock and freeze. Then you have a 1/2 cup measure of butter when you want.

I do coconut oil the same way.

  3. the problem is my slow cooker is a "multi cooker" it also steams vegetables and rice and things like that..

I thought the extraction range was between 220-280f... so if my temperature isn't getting over 200f, how will it work?

    I don't have low/medium/high temperature settings. I have Steam/Rice/Stews/Soups and a warming setting.

  4. Yes it is. What is the name brand of your cooker? That doesn't sound like a crockpot.
I've been cooking many many moons. I'll keep checking to see if you reply.

  5. Thanks for helping me out, man

It's a Kevin Dundon (some sell out wannabe chef) brand, here's a link:

It's quite useful for steaming and for rice, I can throw vegetables in the basket and they come out crispy.

I tried most of the settings and highest temperature I recorded was 190, and that was touching the bottom metal.. and I know you have to measure the water itself.

I'm assuming it gets up to 190 to secure the recommended cooking temperature of 160.. but it's definitely not useful for what i'd liike to accomplish

Maybe I can boil water on the stove and keep it warm in there? Not too sure.

  6. Is that true about the extraction temperature?

what about green dragon? and the closet firecracker method?

I don't think you need heat? I thought it just sped up the process

  7. Ok That is an amazing looking little machine.
I use an old rival crockpot and a new Hamilton Beach crockpot. And I use them both when I'm cooking mmj roots to bud. For coconut oil to everything.
My old rival is a much lower temp and I've never killed anybody in my 40 + years of cooking.

Have you heated just water to see how hot the water gets?

It looks like a digtal rice cooker. I really think your will machine may work.
If you are really worried that it won't work then go to a thrift store and you can get a crockpot for about 4 bucks. I'll answer any question you have.
