Slow and sad two week old blueberry seedlings ):

  1. Got some blue berry seeds from joey weed and germed them with a 100% success. All 7 broke the surface and were doing really well for the first few days but have since stalled. They are under a four foot four bulb t5 thats on 24/7. Temps stay at 75-80, and humidity at 40%.

As of today they are 15 days old and for the past few days their only set of leaves has been drooping. Ive never let them get too dry and I'm careful about over-watering. They are obviously very behind compared to my other plants I've started from seed.

Should I let them go for longer and see if they'll recover? If you guys think that their yield would be lower because of whatever stress is causing this then I would rather just replace them with fresh healthy plants and get something good vegging

sorry for the poor picture quality but my camera is really old lol

  2. Ph? Watcha got for soil? What are you watering with?

  3. Try giving them some dark time.. Seems to get some good results.. My Blueberry Gum tends to stall out on 24/0 When switched to 18/6 they take off..

  4. I use expanded and flushed coco as a medium, and always water with 5.8ph water. My water is from the tap but I let it sit for at least 24 hours before I use it. I've only ever given these seedlings a little bit of superthrive once or twice but I stopped once I noticed they were stalled.

I'll try switching the lights to 18/6. Can I move between 18/6 and 24/0 without stressing or causing hermies?

  5. I would put them on 18/6 and water very lightly. They really don't look bad at all. Give them a little wind and less light and I think you'll be fine. Is this for an outdoor grow?

  6. You shouldnt have any issues since they are still in veg.. Changing lights during flower is when you start running into issues..

  7. you know i'm starting to believe in this notion as well. I just started growing with my seedlings on 24/0 and they've remained relatively short. I feel that if you give them a dark period they will grow more than 24/0.

  8. They've been on 18/6 for a night now so well see in a few days if they respond. Its for an indoor grow and I've heard blueberry can get big but I have a pretty big room (8x8x8') so I think it'll be oke

I hope these guys recover cause I was hoping to make them into my first real journal :smoke:

  9. Well the seedlings are about a month old now and the look the exact same!

They are green and still holding themselves up just like they were but haven't grown even a little

The reason I'm bringing this post back is I recently got some clones from a local dispensary and they have also stopped growing once they got into my tent

Clones were well rooted in rapid rooters and showing signs of new growth when I received them. I put them into solo cups with 50/50 coco and perlite, and since have stopped growing. Its been about 6 days now.

Temps are between 65 at night and 70 with the lights on. humidity stays at around 40%. Small desk fan moving the air around.

    No nutes
    water phed to 5.8
Four foot Four bulb t5 with the right veg spectrum lights on 18/6
    No signs of pests/mold

    Is my tent cursed?

  10. how far away are your lights?

  11. About a foot. when i hold my hand by the tops i feel no heat

  12. What kind of tent? Some cheap tents that you often get on ebay will put off gasses that are not OK for plants.

  13. hmm no growth in a month? weird.... a while ago i started out my small plants in those same party cups. after a couple of days they stopped growing. i put them in slightly bigger, black pots and all of a sudden they started growing again. not sure why. there was no way they were already root bound, but it worked. thats all i got for ya...

  14. Givem nutes see what happens.

  15. Are you kidding?

That sounds like an airflow issue. Are you getting fresh air in there regularly?

Bad tent syndrome will kill your plants. I don't think that's it.

    hi bright green

Ive been an obsessed blueberry grower since 2000. I have a Dp mother plant. Ive grown nearly all blueberries including Joeys. Joey is breeding the more sativa pheno's that are similar in effect to DJs "true blueberry". I prefer the more indica pheno's, but the sativa's make great breeding plants.

BB is not the easiest plant to grow indoors, but be assured that that you will have male flowers and if they grow, you'll have the typical leaf and branching deformities that BB is well known for. Its the nature of the strain. Most plants grow out to look normal and 20 seeds per lb isnt problematic.

I can only guess at some problems you may be having, but its a positive sign that they havent died. BB can kick the bucket in a hurry if everything isnt just right..

Outdoors BB requires a minimum ph of 6.7,but thrives at 7. It prefers a higher ph. I keep my indoor soil at a nuetral ph as well and i never have any problems. Below 6.7 and the plants just dont grow and show yellowing and drooping.

The coco/perlite medium is problematic because of BB's serious root sensitivity issues.
BB cant stand any chemical nutrients at all near its roots. NONE, ZERO. If there is any in the medium or the plants can see the bag sitting on the shelf theyre going to react in a negative manner. I cant overstate this sensitivity. Im sure the plants went litterally into shock when the superthrive was applied. Poor babies.
BB cannot tolerate its roots touching the side of the container at all and will exhibit serious growth issues and throw out nanners in every direction if they do.

Lighthing adjustments and variations WILL result in mucho male flowers and confused growth rates. Everything has to be steady and stable for this girl.
Temps over 85 will result in mucho male flowers.

The lighting simply isnt enough and needs to be increased dramatically soon or the plants will hermie. At least set them within 4" of the flourescents but you need an hps.

With all of those problems, one would wonder why its been so hailed by growers for 30 years. Its the effect. Nanners, crinkeled leaves and all, a joint of my sweet blueberry leaves one smiling in bliss. My favorite.

Good luck, i hope you can get them straightened up. You'll be a convert after your first harvest.

  17. I just put a fan in there and had it moving some air around all day yesterday and all night, and the clones seem to be a little happier this morning :D

As for the blueberries :confused:. I'll try repotting them into slightly larger pots or flushing all the superthrive out but i've pretty much lost faith at this point lol. I have two hps' in my flower room. Think putting them right into 12/12 under a hps would make them hermie too much or would I just get a tiny little blueberry plant? :p

  18. Bump for blueberry justice

I have some hygrozyme left over in my room. Would that help anything?

  19. NO NUTES! Find out the problem before you add in another potential problem, especially with how young these ones are. Could be airflow though, that would be my bet.
