Sliver's Widow/Dolce/Other Neverending Grow of Evilness!

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by Sliver, Jun 3, 2009.

  1. Ok, sorry it's been a while, folks. For those of you who don't know, this is my second grow journal. My first one is in my signature.

So, I've been really lazy about this for the past month, and havent posted at all. Here's an update. As you know I harvested my first 2 plants, and am about to harvest the clones of the original bagseeds that I was growing in the first journal. A month and a half ago I recieved my seeds from WWMS, and decided to start with White Widow and Dolce Vita (A durban poison x skunk cross). On May 20th I put the Widow and Dolce into flowering. I've also just started an Arjan's Haze plant that is still just a seedling.

Here's what I'm using: Foxfarm Ocean Forest Soil, the line of Foxfarm fertilizers, a drop of Superthrive every other watering, and for lighting I'm using a ghetto 150 watt MH and 6 42 watt CFL's for supplementary light. I'll be getting an HPS ASAP.

Here are the White Widow and Dolce Vita as they are right now, 13 days into flowering. Pistils are showing at the nodes. The Dolce is the taller of the two and the Widow is the bushier, obviously.

This last one is a picture of one of the buds from the bagseed clone that I'm about to harvest. Figured there's no need for other pics since very similar plants are in my other journal.

  2. So, yeah, any advice, or comments? This is my first time growing a commercial strain. How about fertilizers? Should I trim some of the fan leaves off the widow so that the undergrowth gets more light?

  3. Hey, folks!

The Dolce Vita is starting to make me nervous...It's growing a lot taller a lot faster than the White Widow. Since its pretty much a pure Sativa, I worry that it will grow so tall that it will be tough to evenly distribute light. The White Widow is currently 14 or so inches tall and the dolce vita is about 22 inches tall. See, they have already both been in flowering for 2 weeks...although, the only signs of flowering that either of them have yet are the pistils at the nodes.

Can/should I top or FIM at this point? Which would be better?

  4. dude, the two girls are looking great!!!! Much beeefier shape then the original bagseed plants. Have you thought about topping the plants at this stage? Would cause the top bud to grow way fatter without stretching as high. If you saw my papaya's top bud in my journal, you'll know what it looks like.

Nutrients are importent in flowering as they need different NPK values with higher phosphorus and potassium and lower nitrogen. I'd feed every other day or every thrird watering.

  5. Should I top even though theyve been in flowering for 14 days? really? ok ill do it tomorrow.

  6. Thanks, man! Yeah the plants are actually even healthier than they look in the pictures. The pics don't do justice. I'll take more tomorrow or this weekend.

  7. plants from seed grow so symmetrical!

    sweet grow dude!

  8. Thanks, man! just harvested one of the clones today! got it hanging right now!

  9. how bout sum harvest budshots eh? :D

  10. Yeah I'll get those up tonight! They're hanging right now.

  11. So, anyway, for the past 2 weeks since the Dolce and Widow have been in flowering, I have been alternating between each watering from the Foxfarm ferts (Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom) and Superthrive, to just plain water with some molasses in it. Seems to be working out well, the plants seem to love it. I'm starting to see the beginnings of buds on them.

You guys have any advice for this stage of growth? should I trim/prune either of the plants at all? bottom leaves that don't get much light?

  12. never take any leaves off unless they are blocking budsites and cannot be tucked out of the way. Your plants shouldnt need any trimming other then to top em to get the branches to bush out :)

  13. Actually, trimming off the bottom leaves is a good idea. Will allow more airflow and light penetration Nice grow!

EDIT: Not arguing with myles. Probably better to do what he says. I just remember watching a video this seedbank owner did and he trimmed the bottom leaves off for airflow, etc. He was growing hydro as well though. Not sure if that makes a difference.

  14. you are right in that airflow can be lost due to lower branches and leaves but the plants here arent bushy enough to have an adverse affect. The leaves are like solar panels and each one left on adds to the energy and in turn weight of the crop. As long as they arent clogging air circulation, they are fine as is.

  15. ***********************************UPDATE & BUD PORN**********************************

OK, Folks! These first pictures are of the plant I harvested yesterday. It's currently hanging and drying. It's the last clone of the original bagseed plants I grew in my first journal.

The rest of the pictures are of the Dolce Vita and White Widow. This is the 3rd week of flowering, and some nice little buds are starting on both of them.

And, here are both plants. Obviously, The tall one is the Dolce Vita and the Short one is the White Widow. The first closeups are of the White Widow.

Well, there they are, folks! Been trading off between Foxfarm ferts and plain water with some Molasses. They are doing amazingly. Has anyone else ever grown Dolce Vita?

  16. The Dolce top looks like the top/fimm may not have worked. Possible not enough was taken so it just trimmed the tips off of the baby leaves which are now growing out. No harm though, the bud site looks like it'll be just fine :D Great lookin plants man! :hello:

Thanks! Should I try to retop it? Even cut into the bud that's growing?

Hey, Myles, by the way, I was originally gonna call this journal the "neverending grow of Madness" but then I was like..."oh...wait..."

  18. I'll tell ya what, folks. Those buds I showed in my last update are SUUUUUHHHWWEEEEET. They were from a clone of that bagseed indica hybrid that I grew in my first journal. I did a much better job this time, and I just smoked some of it. Wow, so so so relaxing.

    Tunnel vision.

  19. Don't worry bout retopping her. She'll be just fine growin a single fatty cola. Next time you can try it earlier and pinch a lil more. Its all one big learning process.

Glad to hear the bud is treating you nice!!!! Gotta love tunnel vision :p Like a horse with blinds :smoking: Idk why more peeps arent showin up here. The city has had way less ppl in the grow section. Still have the regulars but thats bout it for ppl coming to my thread. :confused_2:

  20. Yeah, I've learned over time not to care too much about responses. When I made the first journal I'd take hours preparing pics and whatnot only to have noone respond. Heh. I kinda just post to mark my own progress.
