Sleep Paralysis--the devil?

  1. I know there are several threads out there about lucid dreaming but I'm not sure if this is the same thing because I couldn't control what was happening in the dream. Anyway, I could feel myself falling asleep, like my mind going in and out of reality and dreamland. All of the sudden I can't move my body but my mind is completely aware and my eyes were even open and looking around the room but the room looked different and I could see this dark figure by the door and I began to feel as if my body was literally being thrown around the room and I could see my shadow and everything. I'm really high so I can't tell if I'm explaining this in a way that you can relate to or not. anyway,

It felt so real and I was trapped in my body and couldn't move and I could hear this weird white noise type thing in my ear and loud screaming at one point and it felt as if something evil was sitting on me. I kept seeing the dark figure in the corner of the room and I honestly believe that it was the devil. I could feel the presence of it and it was like telling me in feeling that it was the devil and I just understood.

Finally I could wiggle my toes and I wiggled movement into my body until I was fully broken from the dream, or whatever it was.
Anyway, I googled it and it's a thing called "Sleep paralysis" many people link it with the devil and even alien abductions. This one girl even died because she got sleep paralysis and had a heart attack from the anxiety it caused her conscious mind. Isn't that fucked up?

Since this time I have felt myself falling into this same sort of state and am able to snap myself out of it. I have even been able to make myself get to this state but have then gotten too scared to go farther with it because I might have a panic attack. What do you guys think? Has this ever happened to you? What's you experience? What do you think causes it!? and should I try and do it again?? Could it have to do with smoking before I go to bed?

  2. Theres no way the devil was in your room, he was chillin over at my place.

  3. Nothing to do with smoking before bed..

IF YOU SCURRED GO TO CHUURCH

  4. I started getting this when I was 12 - way before I ever smoked weed.

Everything is the same from your own account, but I would feel like something is shocking me with many many volts.

I have felt the "evil entities".

I don't know about "the devil" (you have to be Christian to believe in the devil), but I do think that it's POSSIBLE that it could be something or somethings that Science hasn't been able to detect - perhaps inter/extradimensional entities.

  5. Happens to me fairly often. Last couple of nights too actually. It's perfectly normal, albeit sometimes scary. When you 'make yourself get into this state' try not to get scared and chicken out, if you go all the way you will find yourself controlling your dreams (lucid dreaming). I had a pretty good go last night, was fun!

It is nothing to do with the devil or anything paranormal, it is just the bodies natural way of falling asleep. You are paralysed to stop from hurting yourself while you dream, but sometimes this happens before you actually fall unconscious, this is sleep paralysis. Often accompanied by hypnagogic hallucinations. Fun times.

  6. ^^ dayum dat shit b scurry

  7. I've actually struggled with sleep paralysis and sleep apnea (when you stop breathing when you're sleeping) for a good chunk of my life.

As far as sleep paralysis goes, your brain releases a certain chemical when you are in REM sleep. The name escapes me right now. Anyway, this chemical literally paralyzes you so that you don't flail around and hurt yourself while you are dreaming. Sleep paralysis happens because your brain tries waking up before that chemical has completely dissipated, and the images you see are remnants of your REM sleep cycle; i.e your dream. I know it's scary as shit, it used to scare me bad, but when I found out the medical reasons for it, it made me feel a lot better. Still sucks when it happens, but it's nothing paranormal and it's completely explainable.

Hope that gives you some comfort :)

  8. Iv had this happen probably 4 times now. Mine is triggered when I catch myself falling asleep but im face down in a pillow. At this point I am paralyzed and suffocating. I either give in and think im dieing then struggle really hard to get out of it, or I fight it form the start. I can see perfectly, but when I go to scream theres nothing. I have to muscle it up to the point where I can sway and roll myself over to break through and breathe. Goddam it fucking sucks. I am however very interested in lucid dreaming, what was the connection between them?

  9. Sometimes when I'm trying to sleep i can make my mind think I'm wobbling. Its probably just my thought but it feels like when i tilt my brain to the side, i start to feel a pull from that side, causing me to spin, as if laying on the ground, and it's rotating.

    Kinda fun sometimes.

  10. that sounds awesome

  11. sounds like a problem with all the marijuanas you've been smokin

  12. Holy shit, your a genius!!!

  13. try sleeping on your stomach

idk for some reason i never got it whenever i slept on my stomach

  14. this happens to me all the time. it will usually happen wen ur really tired or fatigued:smoke:

  15. You are experiencing sleep paralysis. Trust me, I'm an expert on it as well as the paranormal. Either your brain causes you to have apnea, or your physiology causes it. Your brain becomes oxygen starved and you have this very real experience. I've had it many times. It probably will get worse as you get older and you should probably get a sleep study. The fix is easy. They'll give you a cpap or bipap to sleep with and you'll be fine. However, if you let this go untreated it can be dangerous over time. It can cause all kinds of health issues, so be careful with it. You were smart to research it.
Just for the record I've been studying the paranormal, religion, and physical phenomenon for over 30 years. There is absolutely no scientific proof of the devil, demons, etc. None at all. In fact if you put the bible down and study the history of these subjects you'll find they are merely characters invented by philosophers to explain the human condition over thousands of years and made evil by Christianity. their origins are in Egyptian and Greek folklore and were originally meant to be good fairies. Don't be afraid of the Evils Christianity has developed to manipulate people. Jesus wouldn't want you to be afraid, I'm sure.

  16. Fuck Sleep Paralysis!
I got knee surgery over the summer at wasn't walking for over 2 months.
Anyway, I would get sleep paralysis all the time. its horrible. worst fucking feeling ever. I slept down stairs on the couch cause my room is upstairs, and fuck stairs of you cant walk. and like id wake up and my dog would right up in my face but i could move or talk. what the fuck is up with that.
I wonder if the pain meds had anything to do with it. i've had sleep paralysis a couples times before but never so frequently.

that was just a rant really.

  17. Hahahaha I can picture a dog being like an inch away from you and you would go to push it away but you cant. I think I wouldnt freak out but laugh in that situation, like seriously, lol.

  18. my dogs chill and all. it doesnt bother me that my dog is there.
but its like he could tell i was aware and was curious as to why i wasnt petting him

  19. Smart dog, I wonder if animals can get this? Then when your dog has one you can get right up in its face to piss it off muwhahahaha
