Sircam Worm Virus

  1. In a related vein there is also a growing strategy to attempt to infect PCs indirectly by using a website. The usual ploy is to send someone an enticing e-mail with a web url that the reader is encouraged to visit. On visiting the site the users PC is then probed for security weaknesses and attempts are made to infect it with a virus or do other malicious acts such as deleting files etc. This does not mean you should be worried about visiting websites you know and have used before, but be very careful about blindly following urls e-mailed to you from untrustworthy sources - it has to be your own definition of trustworthiness.

  2. Yep, I just "caught" the Sircam virus, but my shield caught it and rid the vile beast from my computer's hard drive.
    Peace,
