I've kind of started listening to My Chemical Romance again. I love Gerard and his stage presence. Hes such a chill guy but he is just so... crazy! I started to wonder if some lead singers have used their band as a sort of second self that is everything they're not, cool, outgoing, fascinating. I love to sing, I used to be in advanced choir, but I have such terrible stage fright I'm lucky to get myself to play Karaoke revolution. Has anyone gotten over their shyness by singing in a band?
I'm a bassist in a covers band. I also do some backing vocals. I'm the shyest guy you can imagine. I have no faith in my abilities yet when I'm on stage I'm a completely different person. I'm definitely part of the stage presence. More than once has someone come up to me after the gig and told me they just enjoyed watching me play and my persona on stage. For those two hours I can forget about being the quiet dumb ginger guy and give it my all. And when people respond to that, it makes it all worthwhile.
people say jimi hendrix was a shy quiet guy when he wasn't on stage.. and then look at him on stage.. the best way to get over stage fright is to ask yourself if you really want to do it maybe take a few shots and just sip up your pants and get out there. edit: passitaround what band do you play in? cause when i saw badfish at lupos there was a ginger kid playing bass in one of the opening bands who had great presence. lol was it yoU!?!?
