What would be the best medium for a 4 foot by four foot room with 600 watt led. Simple is best for me. I want to start right and dont have a clue. I will be using grow bags. How many plants would be the best. I am thinking four and i will be cropping and screen of green. My fiirst grow was coir soil and i had a hard time getting neutrients right. But if this is the best way i will learn. Already past that overneut and over water thing. That was a tough lesson.
I would continue on with your old medium the more mistakes you make the more your going to get better at it. I started with fox farm soil I stayed with it now I'm amending that soil into all organic fun learning curve. As to how many plants I would go with one with the light you have of you can afford it I would buy one maybe two more leds
My number 1 recommendation for rookies is promix. I think it's easier then soil. With soil you have to gauge how hot it is from the bag and when you can start actually feeding it. To me that isn't as easy as just being in control of the feed rate day 1. Promix is a hydro medium meaning that it has little to no nutrition built into it. It functions much like coco but because of it's similar construction to soil it has some ph buffers and is less picky about ph and watering frequency then coco. The best brands I hear about are Promix brand HP and Sunshine promix #4. Promix HP comes 30% perlite out of the bail so it doesn't require any additional perlite. I add an additional 15-20% course perlite to my sunshine promix to make sure it drains well, resists compaction, and aerates the roots. This allows for rapid growth in veg. Promix is basically peat moss, coco, perlite, and dolomite lime. Team up your promix with a fabric pot for best results. You'll have superior root structure and an increased feed rate. My go to nutrient for promix growing is GH maxibloom dry. You can use it start to finish. It's a single part nutrient and as long as your feed water is ground sourced you probably don't need to add any cal/mag to your routine. It doesn't get much easier then that. Start small plants at about 3/16 tsp/gallon. Work your way up. Larger plants can tolerate up to 1/2tsp/gallon depending on strain with 1/4tsp/gallon being a good middle of the road daily feed for a good size plant.
Got it. Thanks man. I will follow this advice. Its easy to complicate things. Simple is good. Happy growing.
