Hi I have been a medical user for almost 2 years now. I started out growing in dirt but decided to try to switch to hydro and specifically work on SCROG'ing. I am running a DWC with two airstones for air. The temperature of my room is between 76-78F with the light on and around 74-75F with the light off. I am using Fox Farm Hydro Grow Big for vegetative growth and started the plant out with it after 2 weeks at 1/4 tsp/gal. I am now up to 1tsp/gal. It has been growing now for about 3 1/2 weeks almost. I also have been using 1tsp/gal of Cal-mag. I am using Distilled water in my reservoir and changing out the reservoir every week. The problem started with the lower leaves first and looks like it is working its way up to the middle fan leaves. I thought at first it could be a magnesium deficiency so that is why I added the Cal-Mag however it is only getting worse. I checked the pH and it was at 6.4 so I used pH down from a aquarium kit to get it to around 5.8. It is almost like most of the problems started after adjusting the pH to 5.8 but that is what people have said to have it at in hydro. Please if anyone recognizes what is going on let me know and how to fix it before my poor plant dies. Thanks to anyone in advance for the help. Love n Peace ps. I have pictures below. Thanks
Always cater to what the plant wants. We all have our opinions as to this and that, but what it really comes down to is each grow, and plant is unique, and is a seperate entity that must be treated as such. Just cuz Johns White Widow is a sister of Bills, dont mean they each require the same treatment. Pardon my stoned ramblin, but I guess what Im tryin to say is that it sounds like u and the grow had your groove goin good...and then becuz you were told different, u changed, and things fucked up. U had a good first instinct. And u seem like a grower who knows how to fix this . Freak
If I read correctly you more than quadrupled the amount of nutrients added to your res in 1.5 weeks. 1/4 tsp ---> 1 tsp + 1 tsp Cal/mag = Nute burn.... Also what are you using to measure pH? Maybe your adjustment is killing them but a pH of 5.8 wouldn't do that. Using a faulty meter or just using test strips or reagent might lead you to think its been 6.4 and you dropped it to 5.8 when its really been more like 5.8 and you dropped it to 5.2.
