  1. I recently got a hamster, it's been sneezing a lot & not moving around much.
today he looked up at me & his nose was swollen &red.
Anyone know what I should do?

  2. You should see a vet and talk to the pet store

  3. Consult the all mighty google.

  4. Ahh, there it is. If your really concerned i would say call the vet and ask.

  5. This. ^^^ or get a hamster that's not broken.

  6. ^ this better safe than sorry, could be something minor or something more serious all we can do is guess better off knowing for sure and that will only come from taking it to a vet. My dog had a foxtail up her nose recently only sign was she was sneezing more than usual if i had sat around waiting for her sneeze to go away she would have developed a serious infection

  7. See your vet. If you are a grower, and the hamster has Aspergillius, get the cage and hamster well away from your grow. Don't handle the hamster and then go in your grow. If you've already done this, consider sulfur fumigation.

  8. What breed of hamster is it? That could make all the difference in helping you out.

  9. Sounds like he's got the small animal version of kennel cough.
my professional advise is to go to a feed store or online and get what's called mox...its amoxocilin (spell) just that a capsule and pull it apart, inside there's powder...I want you to give him 1/8 of the powder twice a day...best way to do this is take a syringe, mix the mox in 2 teaspoons of water and stick the syringe in your hams mouth.
he's not going to like the entire ordeal at all! Wrap him in a snuggle and just take as long as it takes to get him to take his meds...give him a treat after and don't let him drink fpor 1/2 hour to stop him from rinsing out his mouth.

    Hope this helps ;)

Or, depending on where and how long ago you got him, you mite be able to get liquid mox from the store.

    Good luck!

  10. Well, he's still got a swollen nose, but I haven't really done much to treat him.
It's only his left side, & he can't open his left eye :(
I called a vet & they said it would be $60 for the vet to see him, &treatment/meds would be even more money; I can't really afford that at the moment.
The syringe thing seems a bit extreme, but maybe if I could find the liquid stuff..

Thanks for the help. If anyone has anymore input it would be much appriciated.
