Sick baby DWC droopy and slow :(

  1. Hiya
As title says. The numbers: ph 5.7, ppm 500 (water is 150), rez temp 24°, amb temp 29°, rh 37. about 20 days old.
Shes very droopy and limp, but the roots actually seem ok. Really thought id got to the bottom of it yesterday when i discoverd my main airstone seemed blocked. I replaced it thinking she would perk up but nah...
Its my 2nd dwc (which was going well till my bucket dried out) its the same set up as i had before which worked fine. The only thing im thinking is the res temp, from what ive read this is too high.
I did something to this plant that ive never done before, which was to remove the small side branch tips which come out of the nodes. I thought i dont want the plant wasting energy on branches that will yield nothing at the end of the day, so i removed them. I dunno, ive never heard of anyone doing this. Maybe she didnt like that...?
Or can anyone else see what the problem is?
    Ta very much!

  2. Have the roots hit the water yet? If not are you top feeding?

  3. Ppm seems a Little on the high side for stage of growth too.

  4. Cheers, yes roots appeared 5 days ago. I was top feeding I stopped when the roots appeared. I have noticed that the hydroton at the bottom of the netpot when ever i checked seemed dry. I do have a feeder pump pumping water into hydroton which i use for 5 mins here and there but it doesnt seem to make any difference.
Also tried adding ice to bucket but it only seemed to lower the temp 2°.
Man this is doing my head in! IMG_20190610_133623711.jpg

  5. Lower your Ppms mate I would half it at least or you’ll burn them they look under watered to me too.

  6. If the roots are not in the water you’ll need to top feed until then mate, I would just use plain phd water

  7. You want water level an inch below netpot mate until roots take hold then u can lower it. Bottom of netpot should be damp not dry bubbles should break the surface and wet the bottom of netpot

  8. Ppms seem and bit high, also your res temp shouldnt go above 70, hydrogaurd helps with res' tanks that will be seeing temps higher than that. Is this an autoflower?

  9. I would not be cutting any growth off at this stage either, surely you can’t tell wether or not they’ll yield much at this stage it’s only got 3 sets of leaves!. And your pot shouldn’t dry out as you say you should be topping up

  10. Yeah. Ive been trying to get res temp down, ice packs and then ice cubes but nothing seems to work...

  11. Cheers DK. This is a huge sativa dom auto, looks almost pure sativa from what ive seen, very tall. So ive always planned to strip lower growth cos it will end up being a meter below the main light.
Doing another res change. 250ppm (water is 120) and ill aim for 5.8ph. Noticed ive been having my water level too low which might explain the dry hydroton. Maybe this is the problem?
    Cheers!

  12. 250 should be ok , I’ve no experience with autos so can’t comment on the stripping, and another guy said hydroguard helps with raised res temps , my res temps have been all over the place this grow and I use hydroguard and my roots are sound so obviously works good

  13. I'll look into getting some hydroguard, cheers.
Res change finished, really hope she perks up!

  14. As long as the roots are touching the water you’ll be fine.

  15. Thanks, I've tried a bunch of stuff today, and she definitely happier will check ppm tomorrow. Also I've ordered a 2nd pH meter, I have a bluelab one but man it's slow (5 mins to stabilize) and I don't trust it 100%....

  16. Bluelabs a great piece of kit, I use essentials ph meter never let me down

  17. And does yours take an eternity to stabilize? I let mine dry out by accident but to be honest I've never been impressed with mine.
A few hours after change and ppm is down from 250 to 210 which is a good sign I think. Res temps back up to 75° :(

  18. I love my blue lab pens. My ph pen takes about 10-15 seconds to stabilize.

  19. Take it to 300 ppm next top up mate then if the numbers keep dropping when you check with meter add back with nutes if they stay the same leave it

  20. Ok cheers. It was still at 220 this morning, had a bit of weirdness when I added some nutes it went to 250, added more and it went back down to 220. Both of my meters showed the same.
I wonder if it was the high temps in the Res, 24°. I remember reading something somewhere that extreme high/low res temps can skew readings?
pH also went up to 7. Need to read up on keeping this more stable....
    Cheers!
