Sick and eaten Supergil

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by grecophile, Jul 9, 2006.

  1. My Supergirl has been doing pretty good outside until I woke up this morning and saw that some of the new growth had been munched. There is a crsytally/sticky substance on some of the leaves and they are bound together where they were eaten. Also, there is yellowing of some of the leaves. A couple at the top and more prominent at the bottom. Please help! She's my only outdoor plant! Shortly after I took these pictures I noticed a small cottony sac neatly tucked under three leaves which had been glued into a ball by some secretion. Before I remembered my camera, I smashed the egg sac in anger and disgust. Is there anything safe I can put on my plant to keep it from being eaten?

  2. sounds like you got catapillar damage or some snails

get some neem oil on your plants and put some copper wire around the bottom of your plants so the slugs cant get on top of them

as for the yellowing of the veins im not 100% sure about that but its some kind of micronutrient problem possibly

are you feeding or watering your plant outside?

the affected leaves the one with the green yellow veins can you take a better picture of the problem like the entire part of the plant thats affected by the 3rd picture?

  3. I think it's a catepillar problem. It seems to have just happened one night only. So how do I keep the catepillars away? Also the yellowing went away.
