Over water? Under water? The plants are 4 weeks old, started in rockwool, been under (10) 26 watt, 6500K CFL's, 1-2 inches away, have backed lights away since problem started. - 2100 GPH pump - 10 sprayers - Big Bloom nutes - Super thrive 1ml per gallon? - 5 gallon reservoir - computer fan blowing on plants - computer fan circulating air in/out - sprayer manifold has 4 holes in corners to jet o2 in to water - Air temp around 72 and water around 65 -First 2 weeks used half strength of big bloom - Forgot to flush until 3 days after I should have have recently added air pump. first time around, if I am not listing something I should be please let me know. Thanks
As long as they're not too hot, keep the lights around a few inches to a foot at the most.I have a few bagseed plants that look like that and they are coming out of it.Are they in rockwool at all?I took mine away from the base of the stem after a month of growth. The old smelly green rockwool seemed to make the plants sick.Check it out, just a thought.
Yes they are in rockwool . A 2" block in the neting pot . Should I cut it away ? Just looks like they are dieing . I tried a flush . Now back to 1/2 strenght nutes just to try .
Is the rockwool still in good shape? Is it showing above the Hydroton, or is it buried below it? If the rockwool is exposed to the lights and wet constantly then it could grow some nasties on it.Feel free to trim some of the rockwool away if it doesn't have any large long roots through it.
The rockwoll is halfway in the hydroton . I did remove most of the rockwoll layer by layer on one of the smaller plants . This did not help yet . But I have seen good results in the other plants since I have added a airline in the intake of the pump . Basically injecting air into the pump . This made them feel better in a few hours after the mod . I'm pretty sure it was getting over watered and not enough O2 . Alittle nute burn too. I have since removed the airpump . Plenty of O2 now . thanks for the help Basementninja
A friend of mine had plants that looked exactly like those(his are in dirt). The problem was the temperature of the dirt; a little too cool. Once the environment was warmed up(we added a 600w HPS), root growth took off and all the new growth is as should be. When you place your hand in the nutrient solution it should feel comfortable, like milk from a tit. Good Luck! UPDATE: My areo system is very similar to yours. Plants are in third week with roots filling bottom of res. Nutrient solution temp is 75.
I'm in a Hydro system as well and to me it looks like they are drowning. The roots need oxygen or they will suffocate. So many factors its hard to say exactly, but they look much like my mamma plant whose air stone got clogged up. I gave her a good flush, fresh nutes, and an extra stone (shes just in a 5 gallon bucket deep water culture style). It took her about 5 days to really perk back up. Good luck to you!
