Shower time...a skunk tail.

I've started 4 skunks in the converted shower that is my grow room , it's quite handy having the drain-hole .
what i want is to try for a maximum yield (but who doesn't) from the new HLG 260 2x 288 lm301b quantum boards + ELG 240 C2100 driver kit.



12/12 began on 31/1 after 5 weeks of veg from cuttings of a bagseed indica mother from mother from mother etc. that i've been growing from for 8 years.

2/1 defoliated moderately

7/2 i've noticed a deficiency in a few leaves and after digging around the net thought it must be cal/mag so i've started adding Bloomcal to the nutes after a large PH 6 plain water flush .Run-off is ph 6.0
Currently using 20ml of Budrite A + 20ml Budrite B + 10ml of Canna PK 13/14 in 9 litres of water then ph'd to 6.0 -6.1. the EC is 1.6 or 800ppm.

13/2 time to lollipop and light defoliation

16/2 the early buds are coming along nicely

20/2 the cal/mag seems to have fixed things

25/2 , day 23 of flower . Things are going nicely , runoff is ph 6.1 , EC is 1.6 , humidity is whatever it is - about 50 to 60 % .
Lights on temp is about 25- 29 C , lights off temp about 18 -20 C

25 days of 12/12 , time for a flush tomorrow.

 

Day 31 i'm happy with how they're going so far .

nutes are 930 ppm including canna P/K 13/14 and calBloom.

 

Thanks man I finally got around to getting some quantum boards and lined the shower with new mylar instead of a mars blurple and alfoil stuck to plastic corrugated board .
Gee , i didn't have a carbon filter on the exhaust until a couple of years ago, when you turned the fan on in the main bathroom it would suck air from the ceiling space and you would have a ganja perfumed room.

 

I couldn't resist spotting some feminised R4 pollen onto a lower bud and a dab of R4 male (short phenotype) pollen on another .
I took it out of the room and covered it over except for the bud being fertilised, then a bag on afterwards, and then a misting of water allover to kill any errant pollen, and then back in the room.
Does anyone know how long to leave the bag on without hurting the bud? and how long for pollen to make its way or die?
I'm going to do 24 hrs and hope thats enough.
Time will tell whether i was able to keep pollen where i want it and away from where i don't want it.
Lots of washing of hands ,arms, tools ,etc and changing shoes and clothes at the moment, and spritzing with watermist .

I left the paper bags on for 50 hrs or so in the end , took them off and then misted around the area .
Just have to wait and see if there was any 'overspray' when i did the pollinating. It all looks ok so far.

 

the buds are starting to grow out on the sides now, i have lifted the light a little to 500 mm , i am not sure if the tendency to fox-tail is because the light is to close or not or yhe more likely genetics, but the HLG is making nice tight buds .

 

End of week 7 of flower and the girls are beginning bulking up.
It's usually now i start worrying about the progress of things.
How are the trichomes looking ? is there enough air flow?Is it too humid? Why didn't i get a bigger fan?
when should i flush?Are those spots on some leaves just lightburn from when i sprayed water or is it a deficiency?
Be careful ,there is budfuck roaming around,..
But i am pleased with the girls so far , maybe 2 or 4 weeks to go i reckon , it all depends on the trichomes

 

Day 55 and i am just loving the quantum boards, 250 watts at the wall and it looks a much better result than 350 watts of mars blurple, it's great to have a light that's nice to work under too. I have done a prune of leaves that shade buds and some lower ones for airflow.
I did a 20 litre flush on tues.
Trichomes are about 20-30% cloudy on the calyxes, nutes + 12ml P/K 13/14, 3ml cal/mag, EC is 1.6 . Runoff pH of 6.1 , EC of 1.3.

I don't mind the foxtailing , they are mostly calyx and packed with goodness.

 

I am back after week in migraine land and have been only able to give them a bit of pH 'd water with one tablespoon of molasses , . I will a flush tomorrow to a low ppm runoff as the trichomes are about 20% clear 60% cloudy 20% amber .
I just have keep sniffing my fingers after brushing one bud , they smell of caramel/butterscotch , pine , chocolate and earth. I have never had the caramel/butterscotch scent before , I hope it lasts and isn't just a migraine phantom smell, it's very moreish .

 

I am half way through the harvest and am doing a wet trim on the first two , it all looks so yummy ,


and the other two have had another 2 days of light before 48 hrs dark to get a few more amber tric's for more couchlock, here's the bud porn...

 

Ok everyone , all is trimmed and dried and starting the cure.
After 5 weeks veg then 75 days of flower using an HLG 260 (2x 288 V2 boards) drawing 232 watts in an 800mm x 800mm space I have ended up with 334 grams of quality buds and 82 grams of trim , and am just stoked with the result . 1.4 grams per watt and only 232 watts of power.

I only ever used to get about 150-200 grams under 300 watts of mars blurple , not quite enough to get by on, but now with this new QB light i will be able to have enough really good matured bud always , which is the point of it all really.
I can't recommend the QB lights enough, they are just fantastic.
