Hi, I'm doing my first grow, and I am using a 400W HPS. I had a few complications with ordering my grow light so I got it a few weeks later than I had planned. Problem is that I will be leaving on a vacation out of the country for two weeks starting on December 20. My strain takes about 60 days to complete flowering, so I will have to switch to flowering on October 20 if I want to harvest before I leave for my vacation. I began vegetative growth on the first of October, so it has only been two weeks at the time of this post. Twenty days of vegetative growth isn't very much, but at least I will have everything finished before I leave and won't have to worry while I am gone. The other option is I can switch to flowering on November 6 or even later if I want, pretty much doubling the vegetative stage. The downside of this is I will have to leave the plant by itself for two weeks. It possibly won't receive any water at this time; leaving a high power light on unattended for a long time could be dangerous; and the smell will be the strongest at this time and I won't be able to mange this if I am not there. So is the bigger harvest worth the extra risks? What do you guys think I should do? I have attached pictures I took today (Oct 14) so imagine a weeks extra growth before I possibly switch to flowering for the first option. On a side note, I only have two plants and one of them is not doing very well at all (see last picture). She is nicknamed "Retardo," and I don't have much hope for her. She only sprouted a few days later than the other plant which is doing just fine. Anyone know what is wrong? Is it a lost cause for this one?
Talk about being between and a rock and a hard place.... honestly it's up to you. I would try to find a friend to take care of her....also are you sure its a female. Wouldn't want to waste your time to have it turn out to be a male.
Yes, I bought feminized seeds. My flatmate might be here for some of the time but he isn't sure yet, but he doesn't really want anything to do with the project
That's hard. Really all you need is someone to come twice and check her water her twice and when you get home you'll be wicked psyched at how hue she looks. I had to go to a convention right when I was supposed to be harvesting. I harvested as much as I could then called my best friend and said the rest is yours. You don't wanna be away during the drying process either that'll f you hardcore.
I've had to leave my room for about 7 days and when I got back they were super close to dead and fortunately I was able to revive them. This is also with a drip system I left to try and water while I was away so I would honestly recommend getting someone you trust to take care of your babies while you're gone.
