Should I use weed thats high in THC or CBD in cannabutter?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by smashx420, Dec 3, 2013.

  1. I can get either one, but I would like to know which one is better for edibles.

  2. Do you want to get high? or realy high?

  3. I like a mix of two strains one high thc one cbd.

  4. Pure THC strains are psychoactive, but can bring on panic attacks in some people. A mix of THC and CBD gives the best high!

CBD is non-psychoactive, although it gives a feeling of calm. CBD can relieve pain, but uses a different chemical pathway than THC- this is why some folks get better pain relief with CBD. It can prevent seizures in epileptics. CBD can help prevent the panic attacks and memory problems that using "pure THC" strains can bring*.  Although it won't get you high, CBD does an interesting "trick" with THC- first, it partly blocks the high, but later it potentiates the high**! "Creeper weed" that gets you a little high, then hits you like a ton of bricks, has CBD in it. :smoking:

This isn't an easy question to answer. It would depend entirely on what effects you are looking for.

Delta 9 THC is converted to 11 OH THC by the liver when successfully imbibed via an activated and bio-available oil/butter/alcoholic drink. It has psychoactive properties anywhere from 4 to 10 times the potency of Delta 9 THC.

Or we can change its character in a different way by processing the THC under gentle heat for long enough before we prepare the final edibles. We degrade Delta 9 THC and convert it to 8 Delta THC and CBN (cannibinoil) in a controlled way. These compounds act in much the same way as CBD when it comes to "couch-lock" and "sedative" type effects. But not exactly.

Or we can keep the edible to a "cerebral: high by not degrading the THC at all.

So the short answer to your question is that high THC material gives you greater scope for a range of effects, whereas high CBD will have certain effects that would be difficult to shake off, no matter how long/short you progressed the material during its preparation.

If you are interested in edibles, you should go to BadKatsCannaPharm thread at the top of the edibles page. Everything you could ever want to know about edibles is there, and you can trust absolutely everything BK says.

Below are the links to the three foundation tutorials for making activated, bio-available edibles that will see you using only the amount you would smoke in a session (if a light or occasional smoker) or in a day (if regular/heavy smoker). Even less than that with really well made edibles. And we can get long lasting and very, very pleasant effects.

Follow the tutorials as close to exactly as you can get it and you can't go wrong. It would take a major blunder to blow the lot, so long as you are attempting to replicate the methods to the letter.

    Have fun :D

  6. Thanks for all the info! I was asking more in terms of "which is more enjoyable for edibles?"
