  1. I tested out some systems at Best Buy and was loving windows 8. Its defiantly different and i was wondering if all the kinks have been worked out of 8 yet?? I have a toshiba satellite whatever model laptop and im just wanting something different. Opinions, facts, etc are welcome.

  2. I haven't had a single issue with 8 yet. Nothing. It's awesome and so much faster

  3. Did you upgrade from windows 7 or just buy a laptop with windows 8 on it??

    Upgraded from 7

  5. FUCK NO windows 8 is for smartphones, which i find ironic lol

  6. The PC version isn't

  7. I had a beta copy of it a while ago - wasn't for me. I ended up reverting to Win7 and there I will remain for the foreseeable future :p

  8. the key of that whole experience is bolded....

check it out, its really not bad. and just dual boot it with 7.

win 8 pro is only 32gb

  9. 95 - Sucked
    98 - Rocked
    Millenium - Sucked
    XP - Rocked
    Vista - Sucked
    7 - Rocked
    8 - Sucked

See the pattern here? Gotta go with the Odd versions.

  10. How so?

  11. I'm using an windows 8 90 day evaluation program i downloaded from a site of Microsofts. Its really not too bad, only thing is it wouldnt let me bring my documents, photos, music, etc over.

  12. so does the desktop have look like a crowded mess of apps or can you still have the start menu and whatnot? i didn't like the fact that it looks too much like a shitty version of xbox 360s dashboard.

There are various 3rd party programs that allow you to add back in the start button and all that, and make it so you never have to see the new start screen. There is no way to natively do that though. It's really not a huge deal at all once you get used to it. It's different but still exactly the same.

I do almost everything from the desktop. Start screen serves as a nice launcher though. Just press the windows key on your keyboard and start typing the search query you want and windows search index comes up in metro mode and has everything neatly categorized. Super easy to find shit.

  14. Windows 7 is essentially Vista with all the bugs taken out. Based on that, I would assume that maybe it's a smart idea to wait to upgrade. But I don't know. I haven't even tried Windows 8 at all.

  15. I suppose you may be right that my experience would be worse off as a beta tester...I may give it another go at some point, but I don't plan to for now. Maybe if it offered something that 7 didn't that I found useful I would have liked it more but 7 is just right imo! :)

Also, it is good news to hear that with a bit of work and some third party apps, you can get the start menu back. A PC is not a PC without a start menu :p

  16. It still has exactly the same start menu...it just looks different now. It has the same functionality as before, but IMO searching with the new start screen is just so much better than Windows 7 search.

People are so resistant to the change in the start screen that they don't take a few minutes to play around with it and realize that it's exactly the same as it has always been, just with a new look.

  17. I'm not resistant to change - just don't necessarily see the need to upgrade. I thought I was up to date when I got Windows 7 installed like a month ago haha. Screw it, like i say - i'm totally happy with 7!

  18. No it isn't, I've used it with a bamboo pen, and it is much more effective with a high quality keyboard. I could do a massive chain of things in seconds without touching the pen. I rarely used the pen or a mouse.

BRO WHERE'S 2000? BEST VERSION, WIN 8 IS SECOND BEST!! *fanboys*

    95 - above average.
    98 - good.
    ME - shitstorm
    2000 - beyond awesome
    XP - damn good.
    Vista - shitstorm
    7 - good.
    8 - awesome.

  19. Yeah man, if you're happy with 7 there's no reason to upgrade. But, if you want speed improvements with a whole slew of other new benefits, then 8 is the way to go. Once you get passed the "omg it looks so different" you really do start to understand that it's not that different at all.
