This is my first grow so not all that experienced, theis are autos that are flowering at about 7-8weeks in and this one plant is growing bushy and short, was wondering if I should get rid of some fan leaves to allow better light to the bottom
you should train them apart a bit! i wouldnt trim,, just open for better light penetration. Be carefull friend
I wouldn't trim them if it were me. I don't have a lot of experience with auto's, but with their already short grow time, I don't like to stress them.
Looking at this picture, I can see the other plants are stretched, the stems are on the thin size, really you should open the canopy and remove leaves, if you a have a think canopy with lots of main shoots on a plant taller than 14" in mid flower. I would lift the plant up a good 6-10" so the plants level with the rest, I would not remove any leaves or open the canopy. Is your led giving your plants enough light? Do you need to drop the led a few inches or do you need to upgrade your light? I would look into this, before you start your next crop.
This is a very subjective opinion. I say hell yes . Any leave that is covering the next main lower bud site should be removed . First get some bamboo poles . Put those pose into the dirt. Then get zip ties . Connect the branch to move them . If its not possible then pull off a few leaves that are covering the other buds. If those buds are covered and not getting the light you will GET A SMALLER YIELD . Quote me . SMALLER YIELD . So were clear everybody in this chatroom. You think covered buds wont effect yield . Well remove the leaves on just one plant . At harvest compare bud size . To be clear im not suggesting pull leaves off for pop corn bud branches to get light only the second set of buds from the very top of the plant. This situation is for autos or photo plants . I have grow over 200 autos . And over 40k photo More or less
Keep us update on your plants if you like to. I want to see them. Just pull leaves off one plant send us pics before doing them all .
Since you thought of it, you must think it need it? Go for it, if it don't work out, don't do it again. The stalk looks beefy enough. I like to trim all leaves close to the stalk???
Took off a fan leaf from one side of the top, revealed a bud sites underneath, should I do the same to the opposite fan leaf
It's obviously an auto. You need to top it off. Once you do that, she'll go lateral, you'll have an even top canopy that light will penetrate easily. and make sure you trim bottom out for good air flow. Sent from my SM-S124DL using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Topping is for vegging. You shouldn't top something in the middle of flowering. All you'll do is stunt its growth and cut off the best cola.
First time growers should keep it basic, the fan leaves will help as a buffer if the op makes any mistakes, I disagree with removing fan leaves on very small plants, the plant only looks 6" high.
What to do it right? A person ask for opinions . That person decides what to do. This time he did the correct thing removing leaves covering the bid sites . Look at any plant that has huge buds . Look at that plant somebody posted in here. Its not totally covered with leaves . I respect all opinions . In the posters situation the proper thing to do is to remove a few leaves .
A plant covered In leaves does not mean your going to pull a lower crop, I would never strip the top 12" of a plant to let lights into the lower set of bud sites I have one of my grows on here and I did not strip the fan leaves, the colas were a good size and so was the crop size homemade led vs a 600w hps
Look at your tops . Look at his . There is a difference . You have many tops .He has just one main top. His plant will not grow any bigger
