This year i am growing a blueberry/white widow cross. I have heard that in order for Blueberry to reach it's full potential it is advised to top the plant. As this is a cross do you think I should still top?
im actually growin the same breed, (along with others), and mines from g13 its called blue venom, but as far as topping goes i would reccomend doing the low stress training method instead and you will have far GREATER growth ratre than with topping.. hope that helps man
i think that topping once will only do good. what i do is top once after the 4th leaf set and then lst for all its vegetative stage
Out of my 3 plants I have topped 1. Letting one grow normally and using lst for the other. I will see what results i get.
Just wondering but, for your LST when flowering stage comes around, do you leave it tied down or you you untie it so it can straighten back out alittle, cause i usually keep mine tied down but recently i read a guide that said once flowering comes around to untie it and it confused me.
this is my first time im trying lst on my plants so i dont know what to tell you. i think cantharis can answer us because he had done lst in the past on his plants
Why top when you can fimm? http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-beginners/122559-how-fimming-topping-made-easy.html Personally I never untie until I harvest and am forced to. I didn't read the article but maybe they are referring to getting some air under the plant during late stages of flowering for mold prevention. I leave tied and just prune out the bottom junk to open it up for air circulation. Good luck and god growing.
That's what I thought, maybe the guy go wrote the article does it differently. It threw me off for a minute
Same for me, I have 2 White widow in identical pots, one I have topped, the other I am leaving alone. I will compare yields.
That's a great idea for an experiment, I might do that for my qleaner plants, I'll do 1 lst, 1 top/ fimm and 1 growing regualrly and see the differences on yield
