Should I Smoke While Im Sick?

Discussion in 'Cannabis Consumption Q&A & Tips' started by smashx420, Jun 17, 2013.

  1. I have a cough that's pretty bad and I'm pretty congested.  Might be laryngitis or something similar.  Should I smoke?

avoid smoking, try alternatives like edibles.

if you absolutely must smoke, try to use small amounts (and small hits)
and use something water filtrated with either ice, or ice cold water.

take it easy, don't go hard on your lungs for a while.

  3. Yeah, that's what I thought.  Can't make edibles right now, so I guess I'm on an involuntary t-break

  4. thats all I want to do when I'm sick is smoke up and vegetate.

Don't worry about it; I've never felt like my ailment was exacerbated because I smoked weed and I smoke every single time I'm sick; unless I'm just so sick that smoking sounds unpleasant haha. If it sounds nice go for it; you'll only feel better, even if the smoke kinda irritates the sore throat or something; the high that comes after will vastly outweigh it.

  6. If you can handle it go for it imo.  I smoked with pneumonia, probably not the smartest idea, but it actually made me feel better.  Less miserable.  Try edibles or vaporizing if you can.

  7. Go for it...

Its like a double edged sword tho, you get baked but your throat will probably hurt more, and you may cough up some shit

  8. your names got 420 in it. go for it.

  9. As long is it isn't serious, I'd say go for it. I've done it before and you cough a lot but it takes your mind off the rest of the symptoms. Like others have said, vaping/edibles would be ideal.

That being said, I have bronchitis and I went to a party only planning to vape, then I got drunk so I decided to smoke a few bowls anyway. The next day I was coughing so badly and coughing up all kinds of phlegm.

    Your decision :confused_2:

  10. I smoke every time I'm sick. Helps me forget about being sick in the first place...the high definitely outweighs the sick feeling.

break out the vape when sick

Edit: i find that when i smoke while sick i forget about being sick but once the high is gone i feel worse this don't happen with the vape so much

  12. If you have a lung infection than don't as it will extend the time it takes for your body to heal. But on the other hand, THC is a great anti-bacterial chemical, so having that coursing through your blood stream while you have a bacterial infection would be extremely beneficial, (P.S. There was a study done that PROVED tat THC kills the dangerous antibiotic resistant bacteria MRSA. Weed is GREAT.)

  13. I just did it. I have this amazing fever that knocked me to bed all day long. I was pondering whether I should/could get high or not. I went on GC and thought "fuck it, let's try it". I vaporized though, didn't actually smoke, so it didn't hurt my throat. So far it's very pleasant, even forgotten for a moment that I was sick. I feel much better, and in a much better mood. I think I even feel hungry now...

Ahhh man, just makes me appreciate weed even more. Every year I have at least two solid fevers that glue me to my bed for a couple of days, so I'm extremely happy if I finally found a way to make fevers more bearable. I'll have to confirm tomorrow, because I read that it might be worse once the high comes down.

Then again I'll just have to smoke more.

  14. definately no, man. I had a bad cough as well along with a bad flu. So I decided to blaze some to make me feel better. Other than make me feel like even more crap, I ended up getting bronchitis a week later.

  15.
It's doing wonders for me at the moment. It's obvious that actually smoking it while make your throat worse. Vaporize if you want to be safe.

  16. Honestly smoking while having a cold always makes me feel better. Never really irritates my throat or cough, and it definitely will keep your mind off being sick.  Avoid taking massive bong rips, just take a few light hits from a bowl til you got a nice buzz going and see where youre at.  If you feel worse, stop and wait a day or 2.

  17. Could be bronchitis, I have it and the only way it will get better is if you stop. Sucks a lot, I took like a 2 week break but after your first hit after that break, and make sure it is a nice big rip, you will be sky high.

  18. If it hurt's to smoke, then I would avoid it. I have smoked when I was sick before, and it wasn't bad.

  19. I remember I was sick one time and said fuck it ill just vape. It was great.

Weed is medicine for cancer, sclerosis and other diseases but its medicine for small diseases too

  20. Yup, confirmed. As I said yesterday, the weed made me feel much better. I didn't feel worse after that or anything. So when I woke up today I made sure to vape again, and I've had a pretty nice day. I was able to go to work.
