So I was at the library yesterday and I had left my dog just roaming around the house playing with my roommates dog, I get a text from my roommate saying exactly this.... "Yo your dog just pulled my xbox off the table in my room i was in the bathroom and junior (other dog) was outside and i hear a loud crash and marco (my dog) booking it out of my room and now my xbox doesnt work" Now he says his dog was outside and mine was in his room, but they almost always play together. Also the 360 was seriously fucked up, like big pieces broken off, doesnt look like it just fell 2 or 3 to a carpet floor. Also there was a candle and something else still laying on the floor HOURS after it had broken, so it seems almost set up to me... but idk I'm a little weirded out by this cause while it could have happened this guy is a real d-bag and I'm not sure I'm willing to spend $140 just on his word that my dog broke it. I think I might offer to pay half of it. Opinions?
yeah man i wouldn't pay, YOU didn't break shit, he knew the dogs were going to be running around playing anyway so HE should have got that sorted, and you said it was practically broken anyways, IF you like the dude and he's not being a dick then pay half.
Fuck him. Your dog can pay him. Even if I had absolute proof my dog did it I wouldn't pay his ass. It is everyone if the houses dog to control as you should control his dog when he is gone. It is never the dogs fault always the person supervising the dog in my opinion. Shit happens and when it happens to people they try to get someone else to clean it up.
Like I blaze it said, he knew dogs would be playing and being the only human there, it was his responsibility to watch them. If you like the guy (or have to live with him for a long time) offer to pay for half and explain your position.
Call 1800 xbox and send it in to be fixed for free Obivously dont tell em what happened. Theres like a 95percent chance they will fix it or swap it out no problem. Good luck let us know how it turns out.
Tough one. It sounds pretty sketchy to me. All three of my consoles have been pulled of a 24" shelf onto the ground at one point and my 360 is the most trashed of them all, but they all work fine -- definitely NO cosmetic damage from such a short fall. If he can prove that your dog did it, then yeah, pay for it. But he can't, so I think your offer of half the cost is very generous and makes you a good roommate.
yea i agree with everyone else. i wouldn't pay shit. it's his fault that the dog was in his room...how hard is it to close a door? i have 2 dogs in my house and i know to close my door every time i leave my room because i know they'll end up messing with shit if i leave it open. plus the story sounds really sketchy. do the dogs normally go outside 1 by 1? usually when one dog goes outside the other is sure to follow.
If he gets really upset offer to pay half at most but I would just tell him its bullshit and he can buy his own...
I discussed it with my dad and I think I'm going to pay him for half the cost of a new one. As many of you have pointed out it was his fault for leaving his door open, plus I'm just taking his word for it and he is kind of a d-bag as I mentioned before. Oh and I didn't say this earlier but the power cable for the 360 ran right infront of his door to his room... and IMO I think he may have tripped over it himself... (but I cant prove anything so...) The main reason I'm paying for half it is not because I feel responsible but I've heard this guy tell me he is going to steal peoples Iphones and such when they piss him off, so I would rather not be on his bad side.
I just talked to my roommate and he said he was cool with splitting the cost. If this shit happens again I'm going to tell him to fuck off. I really need to move to get away from this guy... he pisses me off constantly. One thing he did before this was lock the dogs (mine and his) outside for most of the day then we find the hot tub cover all chewed up and of course we cant prove who did it so we have to split it. Then days later I see his little fucker chewing on it and i still have to pay for half of it. Oh and this guy smells like a pig, when I go into his room i hold my breath, when he leaves the door to his room open the whole house smells! /rant
Dude don't pay. An xbox should shouldn't high enough to where if it fell it should break. And, even if it was your dog, that's not your fault. Two puppies are playing, he shouldn't be mad at you. Just smoke him up.
I honestly don't see how my dog could of done this, but I guess it is POSSIBLE. Anyway my roommate sent me a txt saying that he 'trains" people for halo 3 and they pay him so he cant buy a used one and HAS to buy a NEW one tonight or he loses $100... I told him that I looked online and think $75 is reasonable for half the price of a used one, and he can buy a new one if he wants but I'm still just paying $75. I'm currently waiting on a response. I really dont care if he bitches about it cause I'm trying to get something worked out so I can move ASAP.

Sounds like the dude wants to buy something and broke his xbox on purpose to blame your dog, so he can get money from you.
