I've been suffering from spider mites, first noticed a couple of tiny web strands a couple of weeks ago. Got to make a decision in the next couple of days!! So I'm 6 weeks from seed, roots look healthy but the plant is extremely stunted and started to flower. I have grown this strain before in the same conditions (without mites) and it was at least 3/4 times the size so I'm assuming it's down to mites?? I've Defoliated several times and sprayed plant with several different products, every time the leaves grow back they don't look healthy bits look like they've died off or been damaged, never had mites before so don't know if its in keeping with how mites attack (I know they attack the plant cells). Added some pics think I'm going to kill tommorow don't want to wait until buds start forming to still have problems.
I would get predator bugs and let them go to town and should recover Sent from my SM-N960U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Any suggestions as its winter here and fucking cold so there isn't many predator bugs about to trap/catch??
that will help alot hardest pests to erradicate are spider mites and thirps. lady bugs will eat both aswell as their larvea. using h202 at night only as a spray may help but there is no garuntee. lady bugs can get to those hard to get to areas wich is proly where they keep coming back from thats why spraying might be so troubleing atm. good luck.
Cool thanks for ur help guys really appreciate it as mites are new to me. should have bought some predator bugs weeks ago!! Now I know for future reference! as u can see by the pics I posted, pre flower hairs have already started on heads (auto flower) so it won't be long before they start forming. From experience I've always seen the couple of weeks of stretch before this stage so assuming there will now be very little gained hight. I think I'll probably kill as I don't want to waste another 2months to get rewarded with an oz. Thinking of cutting my losses and starting another one after killing and sterilising to fuck, probably with an isopropyl alcohol spray and just go nuts with it before starting another one. In future the first sign of any mite problems I will definitely be introducing predators. Thanks again. P. S just out of curiosity is it worth putting a couple of lady bugs in on every grow anyway as a prevention, or should I only introduce them at the first signs of problems??
no its not just when you have bugs theyll leave if no issues to find food. if you kill use insectisidal soap spray vigeresly and wipe down aftet use lycol wipes on everything. that should save possiblility of future bugs from present bugs if choose not to kill use spidermite spray until plnt is harvested then bud wash thouroughly and youll be fine.
Cool thanks, yeah it's so hard sometimes to make a decision, I think I'll kill it because its not grown much so is going to produce very litlle, I'll sanatise and just accept that I've lost 6 weeks and hopefully get a full harvest on the next one. They say the biggest lessons cost the most ( in this case 6 weeks) thank for the help though really appreciate it and will be more on the ball from now on I know what to look out for.
np comes from the best i myself have learnt big lessons in growing just keep on goin and youll get better and produce better aswell.
