Hey GC, So, popped a bean a few weeks ago. After it got going, though, I got busy, had to travel, and decided that I wasn't going to go forward with the run. I basically shoved the seedling in a closet, neglected it, barely had light on it, etc. I thought, "hey, let's see how much stress this little girl can take" for the heck of it. Of course it ended up showing issues like necrotic spots as expected, and it stretched a lot. Fast forward to now, I'm thinking of just keeping it and going through with another run. I transplanted into my no-till, and it recovered fine. The issue is that it's a slow grower and has developed a hard, woody stem. Think I should cull it and start over, or do you think it'll find it's stride and be fine to eventually flower? In other words, do you think there will be long term effects of the early stress and possibly make it not worth taking forward? Interested in thoughts. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Might continue slow growth through out the rest of its lifetime but you got it this far so theres no reason not to send her to flower as long as shes healthy going into flower she will produce man
What's up..if it's a photo plant it probably will recover just fine. Time heals just takes alot of it sometimes
Kill it, that stress will have long lasting effects throughout the rest of its life. Could hermi on you later on, reduced yields, etc. The goal is to avoid stresses, especially in the beginning. Good luck! “You are unlimited!” Prepper420’s No-Tillin Adventure!
Thanks for the info. I'm curious, how do you know / why do you think this? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
From listening to these podcasts and others like them. Tad Hussey Along with 9.5 years of growing experience. It’s your plant, do whatever you want with man, I’m just saying that if it was mine. Would have killed it. I can not afford hermi’s in the garden nor slow growing plants. It would be diff if I was using the sun and rain water, but indoors where everything costs $$$, you want performers.
Wise words, aint got not time to waste on weak plants. Seeds are not cheap but I'd rather toss a $10 stunted plant that will just take up time and, more importantly, space in favor of a better candidate.
So, you guys don't think it will "outgrow" the issue? I'm going to think about it some more. Time isn't too much of an issue for me, since I already have an abundance. The comment around hermie risk though, is cause for concern. Yikes! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
If you have nothing else on the horizon you stand nothing to lose by keeping it, at least until you need the space for something else.
It also depends on whether you have a use for pot with seeds in it. I don't, so I would kill it now. cheers os
Alright, despite the warnings, I'm going to see it through. What the heck, let's see what happens. Growth seems to be picking up a bit anyway. She told me "come on, just give me a chance". If I remember, I'll post again once she's done. It's a nirvana blackjack, by the way. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Check out my grow journal i dont have extreamly impressive results but it shows what a plant can take and still make it through to some good buds. Bf 8 ball kush freebie the vault
Hey all. So, I've put this plant into flower (finally). It's bigger than I wanted but was giving time for it to work through an issue (see thread "Uh oh"). It seems pretty healthy, but the weird thing is, she is growing leaves where one or more of the fingers has one side that is bright green and abnormal, causing the finger to bend to one side! Some of the leaves are also sort of "speckled", and most of the leaves only have 5 or 7 fingers. Research indicates it could be a mosaic virus, but I think there is controversy around that...who knows. Conclusion: It's definitely messed up, but, it seems to be growing rigorously and I don't have necrotic spots or anything, so I'm gonna let her go. She just has a disability I guess. 1.5 weeks into flower. I'll send a full photo later on. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
I have this issue on my tutankhamun outdoors. Been like that since day one and from what I gather it's just a mutation and won't do any harm, mine is growing fine and just started to flower.
Yes, that is exactly what mine is doing! Beautiful plant by the way and thanks for sharing. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Thanks, it's definitely not TMV because non of my other plants are doing it and TMV will infect the plants around it.
