Hi all, I’m on day 49 now and got my microscope today so took a couple pics. Should I be flushing now if not already? I was going to start next week as they are 9-10 week flowering strain and I’m planning on doing a week. There’s 2 trich pics of each plant in order. Thanks in advance!
Those tricks are still fairly clear so I would give it a few more weeks. I mean I am on week like 20 and my trichs are just turning cloudy so I think it is too soon to remove the nutrients from the soil because the trichs are still forming. The buds will be much bigger too by the time they turn cloudy. Looks good so far though. Also, someone taught me to check the trichs on the calyx rather than on a leaf. The calyx is what is at the bottom of the white hair (stigma)
Yeah trichomes will go from crystal ball-ish (translucent) to cloudy/milky to amber. I would wait to flush until further along as @PizzaAndPasta advised.
Instead of flushing you could just cut out nutes the last couple weeks and just use plain water at feedings. This will allow the plant to use up what's stored in the soil and the plant. Ends with the same results as flushing only you dont have to waste a ridiculous amount of water and deal with the mess.
Feeding regular water for a couple weeks and flushing several gallons of water through plant are not going to give the same results. Feeding regular water isn’t going to get all the nutrients out of the medium. Not even close. The plant will be chopped down and still have plenty of stored nutrients. Completely flushing all the nutrients out of the medium doesn’t give the plant any other option but to use its stored nutrients.
I thought that was flushing bro lol. Iv got some flawless finish which advises to use the final week before harvest. So I shall wait another week or 2 yet and then the flawless finish.
Some people say to fill it all the way up to the brim (if space was left) and let that water flush through the soil and drain out of the bottom of the pot. Then they say to leave it for fifteen minutes and repeat the first step. And to continue until the water drained out of the bottom is clear like the water being poured in the top. I feel like gradually over time is the preferred method and the other method is if there is some type of problem with the roots or toxicity. I had the same idea that I was going to wait for a certain date but I keep checking the trichs and they are not ready yet. I had another plant I used as a tester for drying/curing before my prime girls are cut. I cut the tester plant down when the trichs were clear and cloudy and the stone is weaker than I would prefer. So I don't want you to be disappointed after investing all the time and resources on product that is weak.
Thanks dude! I shall be back with more pics next week lol, I’m not 100% on what I’m looking for this is the first run I’ve done
That's a good point. I did the complete flush. I just put it in the bath tub and let it drain out. Wasn't too messy. Easy to see the color of the water on a neutral color too like white, tan or gray.
That's the same boat I am in as it is my first run. But I did want to try the different stages of trichome color to determine what I liked. That clear trichs are not it for me personally. It just doesn't really leave my head into my body. What you could do is cut a small bud off and dry/cure and see what it's like to determine what you want. My plants are kind of small so I didn't really go that route but I am checking the trichs every day with the scope.
I just take my lady’s outback and use the garden hose. I like to get the PPMs of the runoff pretty low the first flush. Usually around 4-500. I’ve since moved to growing organically and will be testing the difference between flushing and not flushing. Since some people say you don’t need to flush in an organic grow.
You most definetly dont need to flush an organic grow. No reason to destroy the soil we work hard to build
I never said it wouldn’t work. What I did say it isn’t a flush and won’t give the same results. Because it doesn’t. Nobody is coming on here saying there weed came out harsh or doesn’t taste all that good. Regardless of the truth. An actual flush followed by a proper dry and cure is going to be a better smoke vs a “water only the last two weeks.”
And I’ve read stuff that says the opposite. So when you have people saying two different things you take it upon yourself to test both ways.
