shot glass germination

  1. so im trying to germinate 4 seeds at the moment. 2x grapegod, 2x red dragon
i put the seeds in shot glasses filled with distilled water @ 930pm last night covered with party cups to keep the light out. I placed them on top of my direct tv box to generate some heat too.

None of the seeds have sunk to the bottom yet and it is almost time to move them to the 3gal buckets I have already prepared. Should I leave them longer than 24hrs in the shot glasses? Or should I water the coco then plant the beans?

  2. Why not use damp paper towels in a container ? This has had a 100% success rate, but ive only attempted to germinate roughly 10 seeds.

Sometimes if the outer case is too thick you may have to do the sand in the match box trick.

Glue the top and bottom (two largest sides) with sand paper(not sure what grade, id say something really light) then put your seed(s) inside and shake for a couple of minutes, should remove a small layer off in places allowing the water to enter into the seed.

Then the plant can begin to grow and break out of the case(Twice id have to manually break the cases using tweezers( careful can kill it ))

The shot glass method from what i understand has a far higher chance of drowning the seed(s). Not sure why this method is preferred over the damp paper towels. I've seen people using toilet paper lol.
