shit! mites in soil

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by W.A. grower, Nov 29, 2006.

  1. a wile ago i had fungus nats in my grow room and they have gone
but now there is a ton of little white mites in the soil
they are so small i could hardly see them at all
    are they the nats larve
is there any way to get rid of them
what do they do to a plant

  2. If they are soil mites, no problem; they are a sign of good, healthy soil. My flower bed is full of them. They don't harm the plants.

Get one under a microscope and identify it.

  3. Yeah like -mu said, you gotta identify them and pronto

Are they v-small and white, jump when you move the soil? check the runoff and if you can see them on the surface tension of the water then there probably springtails

Don't worry, they eat algae and moss.

  4. they are small as salt and off white
when i look at them under the magnifing glass what am i looking for
so far they only crawl on the soil no jumping
