My seed sprouted and is coming along great. I made this self watering system and its working well. The seed is outdoors.

I will keep updating on how she does and comes along. This is a photo period but just seeing if this system work for cannabis.
Soil is the base, clay pellets on top.
Rope is coiled in the soil.
Keep in mind this is just a test to see how she grows.

  2. Well done!! I'll keep an eye on her. Would you say its like a DWC?

  3. Similar ish lol, no airpump, the roots do not go into the water. Rope coiled in soil keeps soil moist.

  4. No where close to DWC. It’s a sub irrigated planter. Google them they’re actually a really good concept for newer soil growers. Eliminates overwatering and under watering as well.

  5. I wanted to see how well a Cannabis plant would do in these. I poped a bagseed here. I will let her ride and try to flip her and see what I get lol. I will be providing updates.

  6. Thanks bro! Just trying new things lol.....

  7. Should go well. I’ll be peeking in.

  8. Will the roots follow the rope and find their way to the thank?

  9. Some will but a majority will be in the soil. If anything it’ll be close to a kratky than DWC. But still it’ll work. At least in theory.

  10. The holes on the bottom of the cap were only big enough to fit the rope, and a preety good fit. If the roots go thru well then that was all part of this project lol....to see what will happen.

Roots are now in the water. I PH still at 6.5. She is drinking like crazy now. She is working on her 5th node.......

I mix about 10 drops of grow big in the water.

  14. I think next time try the wick coming out of the topsoil there is no hole for the. Roots to go through

  15. That is an age old system. When going away for a few days, you would put a bucket of water next to your plants, get a piece of string, wet it and put one end in the bucket and the other end in the soil.

  16. How so? How would it wick the water to the soil? The wick is super plugged into the bottom holes, these roots dont care lol. Its a fun project, but its a photoperiod, I might trash this one and try an auto flower next.

  17. True, but I wanted to try this bottle method using a cannabis seed.

Just a project. I will make one with an auto flower and see what she yields or does.

  18. Well the system works by keeping the string moist, so no matter if the string is coming out of the top of the soil then hanging down into water or if it is going straight out the bottom into the water it is still soaking up the water. Looks like you could coil some string through the soil and throw it into a cup of water unless I am missing something.

  19. Yeah true, but I am going for a all in one kinda thing.....like the clean look of this one. Ehhhh we will see what happens on the next update.
