  1. share your best wisdom! got a useful bit of advice? post it here!

    wisdom: no double dipping your exes. date a chick you already went out with, prepare for misery.

  2. If you have to think twice about it, don't do it.

  3. A good soldier is never aggresive;
    A good fighter is never angry.
    The best way of conquering an enemy
    Is to win him over by not antagonizing him.
    The best way of employing a man
    Is to serve under him.
    This is called the virtue of non-striving!
    This is called using the abilities of men!
    This is called being wedded to heaven as of old!

    The strategists have a saying:
    I dare not be a host, but rather a guest;
    I dare not advance an inch, but rather retreat a foot.

    This is called marching without moving,
    Rolling up one's sleeves without baring one's arms,
    Capturing the enemy without confronting him,
    Holding a weapon that is invisible.

    There is no greater calamity than to underestimate
    the strength of your enemy.
    For to underestimate the strength of your enemy is
    to lose your treasure.

    Therefore, when opposing troops meet in battle,
    victory belongs to the grieving side.

  5. Came across this yesterday...

    "I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it."

    Summed up a long winded post I made earlier in a nice concise, simple sentence

  6. Whenever you're having a hard time choosing between 2 things, flip a coin.

  7. definetly in my mind. but i read it from the tao :D

    i would recommend every single person on earth to read it. not about being religious, but it really does make you a better person. look up the tao teh ching , lao tzu. the translation by john c. h. wu is a very good one.

    its a book of true knowledge and wisdom. every page means many things.

    im very glad i have had a friend told me to read it. here is another very good one along the same subject of violence.

    Fine weapons of war augur evil.
    Even things seem to hate them.
    Therefore , a man of Tao does not set his heart upon them.

    In ordinary life, a gentleman regards the left side as the
    place of honour:
    In war , the right side is the place of honour.

    As weapons are instruments of evil,
    They are not properly a gentleman's instruments;
    Only on necessity will he resort to them.
    For peace and quiet are dearest to his heart,
    And to him even a vitory is no cause for rejoicing.

    To rejoice over a victory is to rejoice over the slaughter of men!
    Hence a man who rejoices over the slaughter of men
    cannot expect to thrive in the world of men.

    On happy occasions the left side is preffered:
    On sad occasions the right side.

  8. Bend and you will be whole.
    Curl and you will be straight.
    Keep empty and you will be filled.
    Grow old and you will be renewed.

    Have little and you will gain.
    Have much and you will be confused.

    Therefore, the sage embraces the one,
    And becomes a pattern to all under heaven.
    He does not make a show of himself,
    Hence he shines;
    Does not justify himself,
    Hence he becomes known;
    Does not boast of his ability,
    Hence he gets his credit;
    Does not brandish his success,
    Hence he endured;
    Does not compete with anyone,
    Hence no one can compete with him.
    Indeed, the ancient saying: "Bend and you will remain
    whole" is no idle word.
    Nay, if you have really attained wholeness,
    everything will flock to you.

  11. "if wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets" - Frank Herbert, author of Dune. it means that even though we may hope for very specific things, we should be open to anything, cus you never know where it will take you.

    but...but... it looks so good?

  14. I usually go by a rule in my mind that goes kinda like "don't do it if its not worth it"

    For instance if my car is parked on a city street, but it can't be parked there between 4pm and 8pm its already 3:58 pm and instead of moving it, I have a sesh and do like 5 bowls, resulting in my finishing the sesh at like 4:20. Once I go downstairs I find a ticket on my car for invalid parking, the ticket costs 65 bucks..

    That session was not worth me losing 65 bucks so it wasn't something that I should have done. As opposed to me doing something that was worth me losing 65 bucks, like if I helped someone out with something real quick, they would give me a zip.
    Even though I lost 65 bucks, I obtained a zip for helping someone out..

    I gained a high and lost 65 bucks - not worth it

    I gained a zip and lost 65 bucks - worth it

    Don't take the consequence if the rewards of something else aren't equal or greater?

    Just a little something I go by lol

  20. one of the most important things i ever realized is that the whole Universe, all the matter, all the energy, all the life, is one. in the instant before the Big Bang, it all was contained in one tiny singularity, and since then it has been expanding and evolving and living, but it is still one peice. just as much as it was when it was smaller than a pea. as such, we as living beings should try our best to be at harmony with the Universe. that means being at harmony with eachother, the planet, and all the rest if we get there. because at the end of the day, we are all just little particles in this one big peice.
