Thinkin about gettin SG - 14/18 mm - 180º Gridded Downstem - 3.5" , for my sheldon black straight tube. IVe heard this is one of the, if not the best downstem you can get. 60 bucks is definitely in my price range, but I would be willing to throw 80 tops on a downstem. I think that the SG would function better than the alex k showerhead. Thoughts? Suggestions?
I feel like everything SG is incredible, and this doesnt look any different! 3.5 inches is damn short though
I haven't used it, but just based on amount of diffusion it would have to be better than the alex K. If my tube had a stem I would definitely go for the SG.
hi-flow is soo key with this. id consider it for my roor if alex k gridded his shit id consider that too EDIT: Double-gridded his stems
once i get a bandsaw for glass im gunna be hopefully pumpin out some dope gridded showerheads kinda like alex k. cant wait stemlines dope id get it.
I have the SG 180 downstem. It's nice and produces lots of bubbles. My only complaint is that the stem gets narrow right near the top, which reduces air flow. Not sure why they did this because it puts a damper on an otherwise sweet stem. we're looking for more points of diffusion per square area of glass around the area where the smoke hits the water. science proves smoke-filled bubbles forcefully rise upwards from point of submersion plus forward velocity. diameter of slide hole must be greater than one hole on diffuser in order to work at maximum effectiveness. diameter of human trachea is 22-25mm wide (smaller in females). even 18mm glass is not dragless.
Wow. Well said. I guess that makes scientific sense. The hits are very smooth...it's just when you pull the slide out, it doesn't clear as nice or fast as my other stem. It's still an excellent piece. I like it much more than the Alex K.
how many slits on your alex, 7? as long as theres moer than 6 holes firing on the SG, it should be smoother. looks like an awesome stem
