  5. First attempt at providing my own medicine, and I’ve got a black thumb. As in, I’ve killed every plant, tree, or flower I’ve every tried to grow. Ever.

So far, knock on wood, I have not killed any of my cannabis plants.......that said, I’ve read and re-read everything I can find about sexing, but still feel completely out of my element, and lacking the experience necessary to correctly sex my plants. I’m a long way from any friendly places, so I don’t have a mentor or garden or shop I can visit for advice. Any help with sexing would be much appreciated.

I’ve included photos from each strain since they are both presenting with enough of a different appearance to my untrained eye that I simply just cannot tell what exactly I’m looking at: Male or Female.

Or is it too early to tell?

    Thanks.

I did some researching today and found that after roughly 4-6 weeks from germinating you are able to determine the sex of a plant during pre-flower stage. Is this correct? I was thinking that I had to wait until a few weeks into fliwering.
Anyway, I decided to check a couple of my plamts and took a few close up pictures. Can anyone chim in? Do these look like male or female or do I have to wait for flowering to find out?

  9. Some plants will start showing pre-flowers at 4-6 weeks, but others won't show untill you flip them. I don't see signs of sex in these pictures. I'd say wait another week, or cut clones and flip those if the plant is big enough.

This thread has a ton of helpful info but I'm finding that due to the original post is so old, a lot of the attached reference pics are now long deleted.

Anyways, I recently switched my single indoor plant (of unknown genetics and unknown seed sex) to 12/12. It appears to be starting to flower (and is this budding???), and is showing a ton of pistils as well as balls. Is this a hermie, male or just a female (because these balls will open up and create more pistils)? Looking for some help, please....

  11. You've got a hermi. Those are indeed female pistils and male balls. This is a genetic hermi, not a stress hermi. Chop it, kill the bad genetics.

  12. Nooooo....
This really sucks. Thought I was doing everything right too. So then, what causes these? Just random chance?
Thanks for the input JXAllen. I don't suppose I can harvest anything from this plant either.

  13. It looks genetic, which means it was going to happen no matter what you did to it. Those balls are going to drop pollen before there's anything for you to harvest. That could ruin your next several grows. Better to chuck her and start an new bean.

  14. Yeah looks like you got yourself a Hermie bud, might wanna look into pulling the sacs.

  15. Oh?? I can simply pull 'em off?

  16. Yeah you can pull them off that way you won't have to worry about your females getting pollinated, I've heard to use wet fingers in case pollen falls out( you won't have to worry unless it's far into flower) it'll catch on your fingers, I don't know how good the weed will be but people have harvested and smoked hermies before! If the plants all you got then you should for sure

  17. Is this showing anything yet, or still too early? I am going to Mexico the end of November and getting worried that I will run out of time before plants are ready to harvest.
