when sexing your plant do you have to leave it in the 18/6 or 12/12? lawl, that might not make sense im pretty high

You can put it back to veg. Or, you could take a cutting and clone it, put the clone in 12/12 while you continue to veg the parent, when you see the sex of the clone you know if the parent is a mother or a father.
the cutting sounds like it would be easier. do i just put in like half way down in the soil and water it or the humidity hood thing?
