Setup in progress

  1. Ok, so I probably rushed into the growing process a little fast. I was germinating my seeds before I even had a proper place setup. This is mainly a test period as will the other few times i grow before I actually grow for real. I dont expect to grow good plants yet.

I purchased one of these which i have not put together yet, Im not very handy :(

Ill have a better picture as soon as imageshack works, giving me an internal server error atm. Open to suggestions, I realize the lights are crooked. I have 2 usb cables holding them up :(

  2. Yo man.
Welcome to the city. What kind of lights are those? What kind of soil are you using? Take off that baggie as soon as the seedling pokes through the soil. After it pokes through you can put on the lights. Otherwise, lights are pointless unless you are using them for heat. Even then, CFL's don't really give off any heat. While you are waiting, take this time to read all the sticky's in this "absolute beginners section, the "indoor growing" section and even check out the "sick plants" section. Pick up a good book called Marijuana Growers Insiders Guide by Mel Frank. The more you read, the better your plants will do. Good luck with the germination.

  3. that cubboard is good but I would only use that for clones/mother plants look for something bigger at least 5 ft high and 4 ft wide

  4. So the seedling can grow in the dark, without lights. then when it sprouts I can put the lights on? is that what you mean? Ill definently order the book. One of my friends IRL is going to be helping me build a better setup and helping me out with lights, I talked to him and he has pretty much all the things I need.

  5. Quick question, What happens if the shell comes off in the germination process, in the paper towel? the sprout basicially pushed the seed entirely away from itself upon opening the towel up. so its just the white part, not sure what to call it so il lsay sprout for now =P

  6. It is not considered a seedling until the seed that you planted pokes through the soil. When it pokes through the soil as a seedling (cotyledon) put lights on it and take off bag.

The shell should come off a couple to a few days after poking through the soil. If it does not it should be removed with tweezers or something of the like. By the looks of your pictures you waited to long in the paper towels before planting. The seeds should be planted 1/2 inch deep in PRE-MOISTENED soil as soon as the little root pokes through the seed. Don't wait for it to become a long tail. Tail is called tap root.
