Setting up a green house for food...mostly

Discussion in 'Greenhouses' started by GottaCoughToGetOff, May 20, 2020.

  1. Looking at getting a 10/12 foot poly tunnel to grow fruit n veg n stuff.
I have access to woodchip/mulch/etc stuff I need to build soils. I just have no idea what I'm doing.
I want raised beds with living soil

Any advice or tips on things to research or anything I should do to start building soil?

I have about 25kg of decent ewc and some garden waste I'm gonna start building up, I'll get a load of woodchip mulch as well soon.

Any pro tips on things I can find in the local area and should collect, I live in rural UK and have access to forests with plenty dead stuff.

    Cheers

  3. The organic section will have more info for you. Sounds like with all those castings your pretty much good to go. Mulch inside your greenhouse and plant in the ground. If your doing beds you may have to find nursery for soil to fill them. Otherwise peat, ewc, perlite is a easy beginner mix to get started. Also any soil amendments like kelp, blood and bone meal.
