I live with my parents, but want to grow a plant in my room in my fridge (which is turned off). I've been doing a lot of research, and I have an idea for what I want to do, but I have some concerns. I'm also not planning on going all out on expenses either. I want to keep it as cheap as I can while maintaining the best quality. I have a few seeds I've found in various chron over time, so I'll be using them. Here's what I'm thinking so far... The fridge is about 28"x15"x15". However, half of the bottom of the fridge is raised higher than the rest, leaving me only about 7 1/2" of space for my container. I've decided to do soil since I'm limited on space and it's my first grow anyways. As for lighting I was just thinking of using a few 60 watt bulbs (or maybe several 40s). Since the area is so small, I'm going to have to try and keep heat at a minimal. The lighting is what I'm least sure about, so if you have a recommendation then please feel free to give it. I don't want to damage the fridge at all, so here's what I'm thinking for ventilation... During the hours it receives light, I'll crack the door an inch or two maybe have a small fan inside blowing in the direction of the crack, or maybe blowing air into the fridge from the crack, idk, depends on space. During hours in which it's not receiving light, I'll have the opening covered by a draped blanket that doesn't let light pass through. Does this ventilation system sound like it will suffice? I was thinking of just getting a small plug in fan that will fit on the raised portion of the bottom of the fridge. Also since I'm living with my parents I'm a little concerned about the smell. They know I blaze and such, so getting caught isn't going to result in any punishment. Do you guys think one plant (a small one too) will stink up a room thats about 20'x20'? And if so around what stage and for how long does it start really smellin? Well, i'm off to continue reading some more... I look forward to advice!
My parents don't care. I mean I'd get a little bitched at, but nothing else. I just want to know because my mom hates it when I stink up my room because she doesn't want any guests to ever smell it. I just want to make sure it's not going to make it so relatives and children can't come in my room lol.
1. Like Cantharis said unless they are ok with you growing then don't. 2. If you aren't going to modify the mini fridge for air flow then good luck. They are insulated which will hold onto the heat just like it would the cold. 3. Sounds like you are planning on using incandescent bulbs, which will not work. Kamels CFL guide is waiting for you. 4. The height is tiny, between lights and pot how much room is left for the plant? Best bet would probably be finding yourself a nice size cardboard box and using that.
That's not the issue. You need their explicit knowledge and consent because they will have a legal risk if you grow in their house, possibly a severe risk, and it would be very wrong of you to thrust that risk onto them without them even knowing about it. Not your assessment of their attitude but their actual permission. There's a good chance it will. Growing MJ involves noises, smells, and strange activities, and it is challenging (let alone bad karma) to grow in a house where others live and keep it a secret from them.
