So I have question about keeping mother plants for cloning. Basically my question is what happens to the mother after cloning? Do more branches grow back after cutting off? Or does a mother plant only have a specific amount of times you can cut branches? And also on that topic what are you guys' opinion on using clones or starting from seeds? I know if you clone you're basically stuck with the same smoke you have had. Is it better to keep one kind of plant or start from seeds and have a few different kinds? These questions especially the first one have been weighing on my mind and I haven't been able to find an answer through research. Thanks for anyone who spends the time to read this and maybe help me understand a little bit more.
Stems will grow back on mother plants. I used to have one that I bonsaied that lasted for 2 years. I like to get seeds, take a clone, make that clone a mother and grow out those clones for a few rounds, until I've had my fill of that bud or want a different plant. I'll usually do a seed run on one or two branches, that way I can keep some around in case I want to regrow that strain. Right now I'm thinking about splicing a clone from one plant onto a mother from a different strain. That way, I can take clones from two different strains off of one plant!
