http://drugsense.org/temp/S.X714XWEBBXJEN10034XX2X.pdf and US Senate Committee Passes The National Criminal Justice Act | NORML Blog First off, i'm just wondering how i should feel about this, i mean, shouldn't the government already be working to perfect law, make it more relevant as time progresses and generally not be stupid? i "thought" it was their, ya know, DUTY to do this in the first place. Anyways, what will come of this? Could it be life-changing for us all, or have just negligible effects? I mean, the government creates lots of committees to study things, but what ACTUALLY gets fucking done. Maybe more laws get passed that keep eroding our "freedoms"... or maybe more money gets spent on retarded shit, like by us paying the president to tell you to be a better father. The fact that this bill was even brought up is a fucking joke, the committee should be there in the first place. This is just our government trying to prove they actually do something. Just the point of the good ol' USofA having privatized prisons should tell us something about our values, really, at least 1 BILLION dollars a year is made from the >3% of Americans incarcerated per year. Fucking SICK. It literally makes me sick to my stomach when i think that people are making money from this. And the same people tell me i can't smoke pot for moral reasons....FUCK THEM IN THE FACE i say. Thinking optomistically, if new legislation is passed regarding cannabis use, what happens to the people incarcerated for pot? will they become Pot-POWs? And more about the past, what about the criminal history i personally have...the fact that i have had felony charges, the fact that ive been struggling for 9 months trying to find job, will that just DISAPPEAR? Will i be fucking reimbursed for all the hardship pressed on me from the government? (Thinking practically, i think fucking not) IMO this bill should be passed and those who oppose it should not have a say in how any government works....period, but the bottom line is, are public hearings(wtf) and "reviews" going to actually DO anything for the betterment of us all. Money is power, and big corporation lobbyists have it all. FFS, just look at this: Supreme Court Blocks Ban on Corporate Political Spending - NYTimes.com Does my voice fucking mean anything.....really Keep Smoking. (and sorry for all the fucks)
If its going to get done, this is usually how it happens. You need a committee to look at something, take testimony, study it etc... then make recommendations and craft a suggestion as to how to proceed by the legislative body. Then they'll do more wrangling, add in their little pet spending bills, pay off this guy and that guy, and maybe end up doing something. I personally think they should address med mj/mj scheduling head on .. but since thats apparently a lost cause, the hope is that it is considered along with a number of other things.
