I've heard that keeping seeds in a sandwich bag with a banana peel for 2 weeks prior to planting will increase the chances of it being a female. Does anyone know if this has any merit, or is it just a myth?
This is one of those topics that pops up every couple of weeks. Ripening bananas release ethylene gas which has been shown can have a feminizing effect on some plants, but most plants aren't genetically determined for gender in the first place. No solid proof out there that this works for MJ.
Maybe it would be better if you make a little compost out of the peelings and put it in your soil?Maybe even use a little of the actual bananna as well.
