Hey anyone have a method for seedlings when it comes to ffof. I know it's a "hot" soil so I was wondering if I were to flush it a couple times. (Will be solo cups so would be easy) if that would be better. I've never grown in ffof and I know it can be a little harsh for babies. And if I do flush it could I literally just keep filling it with water at the sink for a while to simulate many waterings? Any suggestions?

  2. Ffof contains organic nutrients that consist of actually organic matter. Flushing would be the same as running water through the medium. Ie..it would have no effect. You can't flush out organic matter. It's a part of the soil. You can cut it with some peat moss and perlite to make it usable for seedlings.

  3.
my method is to put the seeds right into the FFOF out of the bag..

ran hundreds and hundreds of plants from seed in it for over a decade and never burned one.

  4. Hmmm interesting I read so many things about them burning seedlings.

same here.. read all of that stuff too.

all of the grow pictures in my galleries are all FFOF direct seed right into solo cups.. (except for the organic one.. i don't use ffof anymore)

this whole grow was FFOF. direct seed. http://forum.grasscity.com/gallery/album/5264-chemdog-d-chemdog-4-sour-diesel/

  6. i think the folks who claim it burned their seedlings may have made the usual mistake of over-watering, and mistook those symptoms for nute burn.

  7. that's a very good possibility but they also carry the light warrior which is made specifically for sprouts and seedlings.

is the formula different or just not as strong?

i ask because i'll likely try a soil before going organic, later on down the line

  8.
not sure about the LW.. i've seen it but have no experience with it.

  9. fair enough

  10. First time grower, I just recently started some seedlings in FFOF.

I have two skunks(reg) that love it and are doing great, while my Cheese(fem) and Super Silver Haze(fem) both are growing and happy but have discoloring on the leaves. I have tried really hard not to over water at all and don't believe I have. No nutes added yet, and lights are kept at a proper distance. So I dunno, not too worried just going to let them keep growing. Just a observation.

  11. Hey thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it.

  12. I always put them directly in ffof with no problems....ever

  13. Actually this post was born out of me not wanting to get a bag of light warrior cause I wanted to spend the money on two bags of ocean forest. Then I thought about maybe the mg organic sees starter the 0.0 0.1 0.0.
That's actually not bad but I don't trust mg for pests. Seems like a lot of livestock in those bags when you start digging thru. But I'll just get the two bags of ffof that's all I'll need for my next grow I would think.
    Thanks again guys!

  14. Wrong quote but.... Yeah whatever

  15. I just start in the ffof as well. I've seen very minimal burning on some strains but nothing detrimental.

  16. I've actually lost several clones to FFOF.....I've switched to Potters Gold, which is a lighter soil than FFOF and the problem of burning clones has disappeared. I don't like FFOF for clones or seedlings. I have several grows under my belt, and it really IS a hot soil. To each their own I suppose. Everyone has their favorite way to grow! It's a good soil for flowering, but hot, IMHO.....

I've never cloned in it but I wouldn't. That's definitely like the most stressful thing you can do to a branch. If the soil for seedlings is like a nursery, then the soil for clones needs to be the ICU

  18. I just started 6 in FFOF. No issues.

  19. I use Fox warrior to start clones seedlings nice abed light

  20.
    what makes it "hot"?
