Seedling suggestions????

  1. My first ever thread but hello! I am very new to growing and just recently started my first grow. They were planted 8 days ago and sprouted rather quickly, beginning to grow their first true leaves just a few days after. Now it seems like they have been stuck around the same size, but I'm not sure if it's too early to tell. It just seems as though they are kind of droopy and slow growing. I have watered them with distilled water twice to runoff since I planted... could it be from overwatering?? Anyways here's some pics and I have a 450w viparspectra on them as well as mid-high 70s temps, 50-60% humidity, good ventilation, and growing in coco and perlite. Any advice and suggestions welcome!! 2. The reason you're not getting growth is because you're not giving them any "food" coco is inert meaning it has no nutrient in it other than what you add. I'm no expert but mick is the resident expert on coco feeding. Basically you should precharge your coco with nutes and then feed to runoff everyday.

  3. Also, I would use tap water instead of ro. Tap water has calcium and magnesium in it so you won't have to add calmag. If you keep using ro water, give them some calmag regularly to prevent deficiencies.

  4. Okay, that would make sense. I have nutirents including cal/mag ready to use but I wasn't aware I needed to start using them so early. Thank you! Would you happen to know if I should only be giving them cal/mag or flora trio nutrients as well?

  5. Give them 1/4 of what the trio says to use but use the trio and calmag.

Edit1: That's just what I've seen others suggest as I said I'm no expert at coco (I'm a soil grower).

    Good luck!

    Edit 2: Mick's Coco - K.I.S.S. - Scrog Method

    Good info for coco growers.

  10. Just another tip, make sure there aren't any water droplets on your leaves. They'll magnify the light and cause burn spots.

  13. April,
How far do you keep your light from the top of your seedlings? I just got the new VS 600 with 3 switches and have no experience growing with LED's. I do know how to grow. I'm a 600 HPS guy but it's too hot in the attic this time of the year to cut that on yet. I'm hoping the LED can extend my growing season a few more months.
    Thanks

  14. I kept mine 24" above because that's what the manufacturer says, and it says the same for yours. Right now my plants are about 3 weeks in veg and I have it about 18" above, and they are doing well. This is my first grow and I'm kinda experimenting too. I would start with 24"!

  15. did you used both switches or veg only?

  16. Both switches :)

  17. nice.i keep viparspectra 600w at 27 inches they are 7 days old would like to lower to 24 but afraid of burning them

  18. I would def say go for it. 24" is the starting height for your light and I've seen threads where people keep the 400w VS just 12 inches away from their plants, so I can't imagine that it will do any damage :)

  19. i thought i was already pushing too much because manual says for 1-7 days use 36-40 inches with veg switch only then after a week lower it to 24inches using veg switch only
