every grow i ever started was with clones donated from a generous community... With the advent of all these new strains available, one wanted to dabble. i have got seeds from the most popular seed banks where one strain germinates 9 of 10 and another only three or so of 10. oddly enough the latter three made it to fruition and i lost seven of the nine to some kinda of stretch where the seedling with only two petals showing strecthes to a height of thre or four inches..looks wonderful for about a day and when the timer barks off the following morning....they have collapsed each with a 'pinch' in the middle of the tender stem....unsupported they topple over and no amount of 'after the fact' support revives them. Any seedling experts out there to clue me in?
Could be "damp off". What's your medium. I always start sprouts under floros "coolblue" and get within an inch or so to start. once established, with a cool floro, can almost touch plant.
40 W shop light with 'grow' bulb '...rockwool minis and then dirt light at two to three feet above seedbed....all enclosed in dome...slightly vented

its not getting enough light. not even close. I suspect that bulb is incandescent. Go to home depot, get two 6500K 27w or 35w CFL's and a Y splitter.
agreed. what? I have no idea what you are trying to tell us. if that light is florescent you need to place it within 1"-2" of the plant. If the light is a compact florecent (the twisty bulbs) you need it within 2"-4". If the light is incandescent you might as well throw it in the trash.
