Seedling soil and light question

  1. So is farm fox ocean forest good for starting seedlings? Maybe with a perlite mix? Also would a king LED 600 watt do 2 plants? It has veg bloom switch. Thanks!!!

  2. i like to use FF LightWarrior/perlite in top 6 inches for seedlings, then combo of FFOF/HF/perlite in remainder. I bury my jiffy pellet in final pot with the afore mentioned mix, day after sprout. Your light is fine.

  3. @squirksa: I see more ppl using jiffy pellets. I just used some for cloning with good results. Do you prep the pellets with anything other than water?

@OP: Mine has a veg/bloom switch also. But I am running it wide open. The lumens drop significantly on mine when only using one or the other.

  4. You should start in a Rapid Rooter propagator Kit. Then transfer to a solo cup of a seedling mix. That would be an airy mix with very little nutes.

The light you’re referencing is not enough for one medium plant let alone two. Look into quantum board LEDs

  5. I cut away netting, top and bottom, after hydrating, then before placing in final pot, give a dusting of mycorrhizae to transplant hole.

  6. Did you already buy that light? If not i would do some research before you get a light. But yes in mixing perlite with whatever soil you use. I like to put about 25-30% perlite.

  7. Yes I got 2 of them

  8. Send the lights back ...
tell them you thought you were actually buying 600 watt lights … not something that is rated a third of what you got ...

  9. Ffof is to "hot" nutrient heavy for seedlings.

  10. I thought all that was needed is 50 watts per sq ft??

  11. Those lights are really only 125 watts each

  12. I am trying to save you money over the long run ….
Stay with me . Your lights require 48 watts per square foot and its about ten year old technology .
The Samsung Boards require 28 watt per square foot of grow space.
And its about 3 year old technology
Almost half the wattage being used as the lights YOU bought and will be PAYING about 40% more power to operate your cheap ass blurples ..
Send them back while you have the chance and buy todays technology and enjoy the low monthly power bills .

The Samsungs are about a Buck per actual watt .. and tthey are the best bang for the buck .
As LED lights go you bought a light that in the long run you should phase out because of the excess power usage ..
