I'm picking up some Northern Lights seeds from Sensi Seeds and I bought a 0.09-0.06-0.05 potting soil to begin them in. Will this harm them? I will be starting a grow journal in the near future and I need some help if anyone's willing. I plan on watering them with distilled water in the 5.8-6.0 range and then using tap water after they've grown a little bit. I have a 250W MH in a 4x4x8 enclosure surrounded by panda film. How far up should I keep the light in the seedling stage to give them a strong start? I also plan on having an oscillating fan as well as an inline fan moving air around so temperatures shouldn't be a concern... right? How hot does a 250W HID light get? Anyways, if someone could clear some of that up for me I'd appreciate it.
Ya that soil should be ok. Just watch for nute burning and be careful about adding nutes. This is all hearsay as I have no experience in soil growing. You should keep the light as close as possible without burning the plants to avoid stretching. For a 250w HID light that's probably about 8"-12". Adding an oscilating fan will help you get the light closer as it will move the hot air away from the light/plant. Definitely work on ventilation ASAP. Preferabbly before you start growing if you haven't already. In a 4x4 closet, I imagine a 250w HID will get really toasty with no ventilation.
