Seedling problems

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Kbrayshaw, Feb 11, 2021.

  1. Alright, so this is my second grow... and the first went great but I’m trying it again and this one is not going well at all. The strain is crown royale and I’m growing in soil. I’m only watering with spring water and I’m using a 230 watt led with only the veg switch on. I’m in Canada and the humidity is around 30% but I have them in a dome and I’ve got the dome up around 60%. I haven’t fed nutrient yet either. I’m posting some picture of the two seedlings because I honestly have no idea what’s going on with them. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  2. Looks maybe over watered?? What kind of soil? Looks like plenty of perlite in there, which is good.

  3. take the dome off past time for that cut your veg and bloom switches on to try and prevent stretching. most blurple lights recommend running both switches the entire grow. of course you would want to raise your light a smiggin before turning both switches on. idk but i would say the leaves are staying wet in the dome and rotting speculation tho as thats all i can muster everything else seems decent. my seedlings go in 45% humidity and the dome comes off as soon as the cotyledon leaves give way to the first true leaves l've never had an issue not giving them the recommended high humidity.

  4. Over watered is a possibility forsure. With keeping the humidity in the dome it hasn’t really had much of a chance to dry out properly. I pulled the dome off last night so I guess we’ll see what happens here. Hopefully they pull through. And as for soul I’m just using some normal potting mix without any nutes in it from my local hydroponic store. I thought it could’ve been because of my initial soaking of the soil maybe I went a little heavy but I didn’t have this problem last time I grew when doing that, although that was in the summer with the relative humidity at like 55 and not 20-30

  5. only soak soil for transplant seedlings will never absorb all that water they are misted the first few weeks not watered if you do water its a minute amount around the plants base an inch or 2 and you dont need it until runoff not until it has a developed root system which is usually around the first transplant

also even when you do ph set soil do that a day or two prior so the soil has a little time to dry before putting a plant in it

  6. yeah I’ll give these a little bit and see what happens and if I end up having to germ some new seeds so be it and I’ll give that a go forsure man. You don’t think it could be a cal mag problem this early... that’s crossed my mind forsure, basically every problem I had last grow was a cal mag problem is my only reasoning haha

  7. seedlings have everything they need for the first 2 weeks from their seed casing. then it depends on how long your soil feeds before you need it, usually the 3rd or 4th week before starting cal/mag. you can start sooner just be careful not to over do it, week 3 I have given cal/mag foliar feedings at 150ppm but i really dont or havent seen a big growth difference. what I've done in the past is get a ppm reading and i dont give cal/mag until the plants are ready for food
