Seedling/Lighting question.

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by MrGree, Oct 2, 2011.

  1. Well, I just chopped down all 4 white rhino clones I had. Im pretty sure I got over 4 oz from them. I have three DNA Genetics Reserva Privada OG Kush seedlings which I was vegging under some CFL's, but now that my room is back open I readjusted the timer to 24/0. Im running an adjustable 400 watt his/mh ballast. Right now I only have a Hortilux Super HPS 400 bulb, so I'm going to have to veg under HPS. Im running a cool tube reflector with 200 CFM going through it. I guess my question is should I veg under 150, 250, or 400 watts of light. I would prefer to veg under lower watts to save money. And how high should I hang my light? I can put it within inches without burning the plants since its a cool tube. I just didn't know if that would hurt the new seedlings. Thanks for any input. I can't wait to SCROG these. Any tips on building a screen?

  2. Bump...Anybody?

  3. You want to try to let them get as much light as possible throughout. The closer the light, the better as long as it doesn't burn it. As for which wattage....I'd vote for 400... But i'd like to hear others' opinions as well.

  4. It would cost me twice as much to veg at 400 watts then it would cost me to flower at 400 watts. Even veg at 250 would still cost more than flowering at 400 watts. Would 125 suffice for Veg?

It depends on the lumen output. Optimum for veg is between 2,100 - 3,000 lumens per square foot of space. At least thats what my research has told me. if i could find my link, I'd link you to a great page about light and whats needed and such.
