    *EPIC Guide for sick plants*

Oct 8, 2012 Day 7: the transplant into ocean forest went well (thanks to the no shock in Age Old Grow, AOG = ftw) and color is back after a little Fox Farm Grow Big with the light off between 10-2am, development is epic looking if the 1000w doesn't cook it:D

**UPD4Â¥3**From 10-2am last night I shut the light off and may have saved the bloody thing!****

    Day 2

I have my first seed taking off and I'm wondering if I keep my lights on 24hr's I'm thinking I should..

  2. Doing a 24/0 light cycle for me atleast is all about not having to deal with light proofing your veg room.Because the lights always on.It may aslo help the seedling from stretching so much as well.not 100% sure though on that.

Some people think the plant needs dark time, but i've grown for years with 24/0.I do an 18/6 now because I think it helps my clones root better this way.

  3. okidas thanks dood'

  4. I think all plants need a little dark time. So I do 18/6 or 20/4 (have one strain that tries to flower on 18/6). But like x said, many people do 24/0 with no problems. I think clones root better with a bit of dark time too. Cannabis is an incredibly hardy plant, and there are plenty of different ways to grow healthy plants. It's more about finding the way that works best for you, the grower, the plants will adapt easily.

  5. wow cool, thanks for the feed:smoke:

  6. I can agree with less stretch using 24/0. Thats been my experience thus far. What I usually do in my Mr Grow Pro PC tower for lighting is:

    4 weeks of 24/0 lighting(from seed)
1 week of 18/6 in preparation for the switch to 12/12
Switch to flower and go 12/12

My two plants are very bushy, compact, and vibrant. Topped them a few times but thats it. I think they liked it. :smoke:

  7. I wrestle with this all the time. But I noticed in my room when it's on twenty four hours the internodal spacing if that's what it's called , is much smaller than when I go 18 on.
As far as I can tell any dark under twelve hours just stretches em and since photosynthesis is what makes em grow and that takes light it makes sense to me to keep em on all day.

  8. my horticulture classes in school tell me photosynthesis takes place during the dark period of the plant, but in all experience i've ever had with growing cannabis indoors I've used 24/0 for seedlings and veg. and the internode distances have been miniscule, creating mini bushes of chronic to feast on. I'd say go with 24/0 but ultimately its your call

I was going to turn the light off but didn't, and I'm glad it worked out that way; this is the growth between 5pm and 11:30pm this evening. Looks like the transplant didn't shock it too bad and it's taking off again'

The coloring is the iphone (no white balance)

  10. Looking good my friend. Ultimately, no matter what anyone says, you have to go with your gut and do what you think is best for your plants. You know more about them than any of we so since we aren't there with them!

Make sure that you aren't overwatering. You don't want the soil to stay completely moist all the time, it needs to dry out a bit between waterings. Learning how to water properly is the hardest thing about growing plants, and it takes a long time to really get it figured out.

Watering is pretty easy, every 3-5 days as needed.

  12. Ah, but it's the "as needed" part that's tricky. Many experienced gardeners will tell you that it takes a long time before you really understand watering your plants, how to listen to them and give them just what they need. It's easy to follow a watering schedule, not so easy to let your plants tell you when to water.

  13. Agreed. It took me a good couple weeks before I figured it out. There are two good tests that I use which seem to work good:

    1. The toothpick method. Stick a toothpick down into th soil and pull it back out. If there is any soil stuck on the toothpick then there is enough moisture in there. Just like when you used to check brownies after mom baked them. Ya had to wait for them to be dry! ;)

    2. Weight of the pots. The first few times you water, make a mental note of how heavy the pots feel. After a certain time, the pots will lighten. Once they feel really light and airy, she needs some drink.

Occasionally letting an established plant get nice and dry isn't bad for it. The roots will hunt for water and grow.

  14. All great advice. On my first grow I was still over-watering using 100% perlite in seedling stage. When I let them dry for 2 days, growth shot up as the root network had grown looking for water. Always lean towards too little water instead of too much, there will be far fewer problems and the ones you could have will be easier to deal with.

Are you by any chance using burpee potting soil made with coconut? Because I'm using the same and your soil looks exactly like mine.

  17. That Burpee coco seed starter is my favorite medium period. I finish plants in gallons of it.

very neat, it's not though, I was using Little Warrior by Happy Frog in that pic, I just switched to Black Gold's seed starting mix

I'm looking to transplant it again, unfortunately the soil I just bought isn't taking.

  19. I'm having difficulties finding the burpee coco soil, I called the local hydro store they never heard of the stuff..

    *update*

I think I saved it' the color returned after a little work and it's looking like a plant again!

*From 10-2am last night I shut the light off and may have saved the bloody thing!

I used a little Age old Grow to transplant into Fox farms Ocean Forest and a little Fox Farm Grow Big when the light was off. It should have opportunity again' .] (<smiley das terminator.]

The tips still look meh but I think it has a chance at living'! The cots are yellowing early but if it lives nbd'

It was hitting the top of the inclosure that was resting under the T5 bulbs pressing the bubble down while I was breathing in it for concentrated CO2. I didn't think the leaves were big enough to hit the top, this thing is already fire, I love it..

*both pics were taken @ the same time the iphone coloring sometimes gets its right or something, these are about right; with proper camera it l**k f*ck'n*b*mb** * the iphone literally is unable to focus where it looks epic.. it'z like daaamn... lol

bomb plant if it lives though, it's already snowy sugar fire* good color again after 1/2 lowest FF GB mix in a gallon of tap (seems to like it) 2 tsbs of that mix after age old grow was setting in.

The iPhone auto's everything and messes up the white balance the color is different in almost every shot (*manual white balance app one should make)
