Seed Storage

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by indic4, Oct 27, 2010.

  1. What is the best way to store seeds to preserve their longevity?

How long are they good for once you receive them from a seed bank once they are in proper storage?

I tried searching this but not much luck since the search features of this site are just OK.

  2. I have looked in the search results but it's tedious to sift through all of the threads that happen to have "seed" mand "storage" in them. Ok, so how long will they last in a cool dark place? 1 year, 6 mo, 3 mo?

  3. Not trying to start anything, but it is equally as tedious to answer the same questions over and over again. I'm just sayin'. :)

Indefinitely. They have found seeds that are thousands of years old that are still viable.

    Good luck.

  4. Hey man, nobody had a gun to your head to answer my question but thanks anyway.

  5. Wow, lazy and hostile, you da man...

  6. I just think it's funny when people:

1.see a thread in ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS (the place where people are supposed to post "stupid" questions)

    2. then answer the question

    3. then proceed to flame the OP for not using the search

I appreciate all the help that the GC community has given. However, I don't understand why you guys don't just move on to another thread if you think the question has been answered a million times already. Think about it.....Your actually adding to the "problem" of people not using search by answering the questions!!!!

Toasty, would you prefer that people use search all the time instead of posting questions? The result would be no communication exchange between members of the site and would essentially take away a main function of the forums which is to interact with other members to gain knowledge.

I always use search before I post a question, if I can't find the answer within 5-10 minutes, I post the question in ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS.

Go ahead, flame me for this post too.....

mad4reef - the above post is not directed towards you (you kinda flamed me but at least you did it in a nice way and then answered my question as well....thank you!!

It is directed at toasy, I'm curious to see the response.

EDIT: toasty, did you actually report this post? That's funny since you weren't even a part of the exchange.

Get some of these. They come in everything from shoes to bags of beef jerky. If you go to your local sporting goods store, look inside the gun safe's. They have BIG bags in them like 3 x 6 inches. Put them in a air tight container with one of these bags and they will stay good for up to 5 years.

  9. Great stuff DR....I didn't think of that. Thanks!

  10. Any time.

  11. Your question wasn't "stupid", it's your unappreciative attitude that is the issue. It is precisely because I wasn't part of the initial dialogue that I was able to see the situation objectively. You expressed an unwillingness to put in much effort to help yourself, and you snapped at someone who was trying to help you, and I pointed that out. If you don't like that I'm pointing it out, I respectfully suggest that the solution lies in you not behaving in a way that rubs people the wrong way in the first place.

And no, I didn't "report" you, whatever it is you are referring to...

  12. I'm sure mad4reef is very thankful that you came in to this thread to have his back, what a stand up guy you are! It's great to see that GC has people like you around to let other members know when they are not "behaving" well. I know I'm grateful.

Anyway, it looks like you don't want to engage in the bigger picture points that I have made (I'll copy them below just in case you want to give it a go). I guess I was referring to the private message that you sent me telling me to "chill out"...I thought that was a report. Oops, just me being stooopid again.

  13. The largest point in this conversation is that if people are disrespectful and unappreciative then it doesn't matter if anyone posts questions or not, because in such an environment no one will be willing to help anybody.

Personally I prefer that people do not post the same questions that are asked dozens of times a day. There is a difference between a beginner question and a question you could have easily found the answer to yourself. The people you are asking questions of are just volunteer members, this isn't anybody's job. If they get annoyed at answering the same questions over and over that easily could have been answered if someone had just scrolled down through a few pages of the beginner section, then they will stop answering any questions at all.

I think at this point all of your questions -- relevant or not, answers easily found elsewhere or not -- have been answered, so I will be signing off of this thread.

  14. LOL - see ya!

  15. Thanks for having my back Toasty. Glad the issue has been put to bed. :)
