I should expand on my first post. Can I just crush up unsalted sunflower seeds and apply as needed? I would appreciate any information on negative chemicals or such if anybody knows.
I would just blekko it to find some online but you could just crush some unsalted seeds real well to achieve the desired effect. Hell you could even crush up some salted as well, but not sure how the plants would like it. What are the benifits of sunflower meal? I had never heard of it before.

Different forms of available nutrients, with differing breakdown times. Just to cover my bases as best I can. I'm still absorbing information on seed meals, but so far they seem to be an astoundingly cheap method of adding desirable organic matter into the soil system. If you're interested, check out LD's posts if you can find em. He's who inspired me to look into their uses.
Oh I have a ton of seed and fish and alfalfa and a bunch of other meals. I had not heard of sunflower before though. Sure cant hurt. Although I find the meals to be quite expensive. However it does last a long time so in the long run I guess its cheap. I have been using my same soil mix for well over a year now. Three grows so far anyway.
LD had some specific information, I can recall reading it but for some reason I can't remember the details. It didn't strike me as important, until I went through my ingredients a little more thoroughly. Still working on determining the exact benefits, aside from nutrient composition, of specific amendments that I have or can easily source. I want to know the Why's, so that I'm more prepared for the What's, if that makes sense. I'm more or less trying to emulate LD and jerry, as they seem to have a correct perspective for organics.
