Seed in calyx

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by Npk_50-1-50, Aug 7, 2019.

  1. A lady had photos couple weeks back of seeds in her calyx of her plant.
I swore up and down that was not a seed to her .. now what the heck...
Sure as shit I got one..
    This is crazy..
Autoflower and feminized I'm growing them outdoors..
I have seen a few kinds of hermaphrodites in my days believe that..
But every one I have seen had balls that dropped pollen.
How can this be a seed or a herm if no balls appeared to drop pollen is that even possible?
    Any insight will be appreciated

  2. You sound pretty sure there really is a seed inside that calyx so if there's no balls you must be getting pollinated from a neighbor's male.

  3. I don't know much about the science of this as I just buy fem autos and grow them with no problems....with that said.....I WOULDN'T THINK a MJ plant will just shoot out a seed(s) without being "a virgin"......anyway possible some pollen from a close by fellow grower could have made its way there?

  4. I like that " virgin" was the word I was looking for.
I have a bunch of autos I guess I better go check each and every plant. Because how can that even be...
Fuck the mosquitos are gonna RIP me to pieces # guerilla outdoors

How can I be crossed . Just kinda shitty got a pretty descent size crop

  6. Don't feel bad bro...I was trimming some indoor buds the other day, and found 4 or 5 viable looking seeds in the tray afterwards...and it has happened before on me too...I just consider it a bonus,.and call 'em Stress Seeds ,and save them.
Also,(true story) ...I have a pet female Amazon parrot, and she has laid eggs twice in the past, with no male bird in the equation.....Of course they are not fertile ,and I do not try to hatch them, LOL...But Shit Happens !

  7. Budmiser what a great way to have the glass half full ..

  9. Cactus edd my man... I swore up n down 2 weeks ago there is no way that's possible. Now I'm looking strait at it..I was I dropped it tho.
The odd thing is is it looks and feels like a a green bean you know you pop open a premature pod. It's so odd like I dont even know if it is a seed. I never seen a green seed there usually translucent and are in the buds themselves.. but in the calyx I'm stumped..
The only reason I noticed it I was intensely searching for the onset of budrot anyplace I noticed a "brown" colored calyx looked like brown mold starting so i picked the calyx off and loan behold. There it was..
Could that be like the "embryo" stage of the bud plant not emerged from the calyx like a fiddlehead of a fern ? You know is that far fetched?.
Cuz look I'm in a no fly zone if you know what I mean I doubt anybody has anything for crops any place around me.
I mean I don't even exist right now if that makes sense no hydro shop for an entire states drive from me.
Plus it's still summer nothing even wild should be flowering.

  10. Wouldn't that be fucked if there was an 8 foot mail in the corn field down the road just growing all willy Nilly like spreading its crap all over. Just a wild monster . My luck

  11. A baby 'foxtail', maybe ?

  12. I suppose it does kinda make sense that the calyx would hold a seed. I mean after all the bud is pretty much made up of a bunch of those calyxes piled on top of one another.. fuck that's my answer then.

  13. I was really trying to make it be anything else than what it really is but at the end of the day..

  14. I had a female do that. Produced one seed. Far as I know it was the only cannabis plant growing on that piece of land. It was viable, produced a female which mostly got masticated by slugs early the following spring. A couple branches which survived produced some okay bud. I had a breeder male growing a few feet away, which I let go to produce pollen for another female I bred. Despite the cloud of pollen that the male produced, that phantom seed female only about fifteen feet away, had apparently managed to avoid picking up any wind-born pollen. The bud was seed free. Did that seemingly self - produced seed produce a sterile plant?

  15. Please take a look at this as an entire picture.. its odd..
You can see in the photo the general plant is healthy but it's kinda thin and sparse .. (making seeds not buds?)
The calyx I picked off was were that little brown spot is that's why I even touched it I thought it was bud rot staring . And it had a seed as you can see calyx next to it has a shell were a seed was.
No other plants have this as far as I can see I been pockin sacks for seeds all morning ( gently).
Is the brown spot and the seed pod related in any way .. I dont know what to think.. any insight?
