Hey guys I have a seedling clamped by a seed husk and those cotyledons are so close to fully opening. I really do not want to touch the husk at all.
    What should I do?
Someone suggested putting drops of water on the seed? Please help

    Thanks GC

They just opened. dripping water on the husk helped.
    mod can end this thread

  3. Carefully take it iff

Mist it and place under light. See if that helps

  4. I suppose water would help a lot. What I did when it occurred in one of my seedlings was I took a needle and slowly eased the husk off the pair of leaves. So far I've had 5 seedlings and only one had that happen so it doesn't happen often it could be due to poor watering?

  5. I've never heard the water thing, so this was interesting. I have had it happen plenty, usually it falls off on its own. If not I use a toothpick to gently move it off. Gently and not pulling it up from the soil at all.

  6. What happens is the seed isnt planted deep enough so on its effort To push through the soil To light, it doesnt have enough stuff To push through and pull off husk

Maybe I'm too high, but can you explain a little more?

  8. The seed pushes through the soil and its husk usually naturally falls off during its journey through the soil. If its not planted deep enough, it doesnt have enough time to shed its husk cause its at the top basically allready

  9. That helped a lot lol, thanks.

  10. I have had this happen a few times. Just don't touch it and it will pop off. I'd only worry if it looked like it was dying. One of mine took a few days but it did pop off and plant looks fine.

Well I've never observed the h2o factor, so this was exciting. I have had it occur a lot, usually it drops off on its own. If not I use a toothpick to carefully shift it off. Gently and not taking it up from the Ground at all.
