seaweed or kelp

  1. Has anyone used seaweed before and what was your experience using it ? Also is kelp different or the same type of product as seaweed? The reason I'm asking is I have kelp but no seaweed around and was thinking of getting some just wanted to know will the seaweed help on yield during flowering.

  2. Locally harvested seaweed is a great addition to the garden. But, of all the types of seaweed, kelp (ascophyllum nodosum) is by far the most beneficial. I use locally harvested brown seaweed (brown is better than green) and kelp in my garden. But I won't get rid of the kelp entirely because there's really no substitute for all that it brings to the table. Look into the research of Dr. T.L. Senn for more information on the benefits of seaweeds in the garden.

  3. I've never heard of brown seaweed but is seaweed and kelp the same or different all together things ?

  4. You learn something everyday I see

  5. There are many, many different types of seaweed. Brown seaweeds just tend to be more nutrient rich than green seaweeds. Brown seaweed is just seaweed that's brown, vs. seaweed that's green. The exact species will depend on your location. The brown seaweeds are just generally more nutrient rich than green seaweeds, regardless of species. Kelp (ascophyllum nodosum) is a type of algae (seaweed) that is more nutrient-rich than any other seaweed.

  6. What about the seaweed ( or should I call it "riverweed" ) that can be found in freshwater rivers? I live quite far from the sea and kelp here  is pretty expensive. Thanks in advance.
