4 plants spread out more or 8 plants spread out less? I'll be trimming everything below the screen and getting a canopy through a screen with the dimentions of roughly 5' x 4' with 4, or 8 plants (right now planned on 4) I'll have a longer veg cycle with 4 plants and each plant will have its own rez instead of sharing a rez with another plant (12 gallon tub) more root room. on the other hand, with 8 clones, they will grow faster and can veg sooner. (the screen will fill faster) anyone have any exp here?
thats a good question. what kind and wattage of light are you using? don't over estimate the light field...(like they say 400w mh/hps will cover 3-4f squared) in reality its probably a little less. i'm on my second scrog and you can definately tell the tops on the outside of the screen are significantly smaller than the ones on the inside. i think the best types of lights to use when doing a scrog is a really powerfull t5 setup. because even know it might not be as powerfull as hid lighting, it will be spread 100% evenly over the whole screen (assuming you make your screen the same size as the light fixture) what strain are you using? when my first scrog with a blueberry strain, that plant was easy to bend the main stem and shape the area of the screen i wanted filled. on my second scrog using the ice cream strain the main stem's were much stronger and was really hard to get the scrog effect going, hard to shape like i wanted it to be. i also under estimated the amount of stretch that occured during transition from veg to bloom, cuz it was my 1st time growing that strain. if you can use a strain that you already know. if not i would deffinately go with only 4 plants, but on the other hand, its always nicer to get a faster harvest.
ive got some PPP clones growing, only 6 though, never really worked with the strain b4 but the mom i clipped the clones off is pretty big already. lights are 2x 400w about 2 feet apart in a 5x6x5 closet (i plan on using a 4x5x4 ft screen) TONS of pics in my grow threads of the light set up etc.. anyway i think i'll shoot for 4 plants in the SCROG, as these seem like they are going to be huge already..
